Wood countertop
The center island has a solid wood countertop that serves as a warm contrast to the granite used on the other surfaces. Coats of marine varnish seal the surface and protect against water and spills. Guests can pull up stools to watch the action from the "bar".
On the other side of the island, there are bookshelves inset into the island to hold the cookbooks -right where you need them.
