This last year, after searching for a company to do a construction project on our property behind our home we decided to contract with Potter Construction. We worked with Potter and Lathrop Douglas Architects to develop a concept for a carport and greenhouse. We expressed our ideas about what we wanted to accomplish and through back-and-forth discussions they produced a concept that really appealed to us. As construction progressed and the structures took form we were impressed with the workmanship and thoroughness of our lead carpenter and the supporting workforce. There were a few glitches along the way, but they were resolved in a timely manner and much to our satisfaction. Despite the complexity and wide range of different elements involved we were extremely pleased with the final result. During and after the completion of the project we received more positive compliments and comments than we could count from neighbors and passersby. We love our carport and greenhouse and look forward to many years of enjoyment.

I have worked with Potter Construction for many years.
As a design professional, I have found them to be well organized, led by experienced and knowledgeable project managers, with field staff who are diligent and exceptionally good craftsmen.
We share the philosophy that essential to every successful project is the participation of the client, contractor, and consultant throughout.

Potter remodeled our two very challenging bathrooms. The work was on time and on budget. Everything was stated up front and and communication was great throughout the process.
The quality of work was excellent and all of the subcontractors were truly exceptional. We had lots of challenging issues like a surprise below-grade tub made entirely of glass bricks. Wade and the potter team were not deterred. Nearly every aspect of the project needed some special handling. It was great to have such a skilled team to deal with all the unique issues.
We are completely satisfied with the work and integrity of Potter Construction an strongly recommend them.

Working with Potter was a great experience. It was our first time have a contractor do a large remodel (a full basement remodel) and they were there from the beginning helping us out. It started with Jeff who started with us on figuring out the space that we had, gathering requirements, determining all the items we would need, cost, etc. He was there for every meeting with the designer, meeting with flooring and railing specialist, and all the other sub contractors (electrical, plumbing, and HAVC). He was a great resource and didn't waste our time which made the decision making (and there were a lot) process feel smooth.
Once the project started, we had our lead carpenter Aaron and project manager Karl. Having a lead carpenter there every day doing the work and being there to meet with subs and make sure they understand the plans was amazing. Aaron was fantastic and numerous times handled unknown and unexpected changes with excellent solutions. For example, we needed to put in new stairs and to have them installed according to code would have needed to tear into the upstairs floor and carpet which would have been costly and time consuming. He told us he was going to think about it for a bit and a few weeks later came up a solution that was to code, did not involved damaging anything upstairs, and saved us multiple thousands of dollars. This is just one example of many where he communicated clearly with us what was going on, what he would try to do, and what he thinks he can make work without cutting corners.
The subs Potter brought in for the most part were fantastic. We had one issue with the tiling work but we did accept the sub due to it be about 50% of the cost so ultimately felt it was a good trade. The electrical and plumbing subs were great, communicated with us on everything they were looking to do, and are definitely keeping them in mind for any future work.
Overall, had a great experience and Potter delivered on almost everything we were hoping to get. There were a few issues that naturally will come up on such a large project and Potter took on the burden and cost to correct themselves when they probably did not need to make it right. The quality of workmanship and process was clearly important for everyone we interacted with from Potter.
Recommend Potter for any scale of project and am looking forward to working with them again the future.

We hired Potter Construction for a complete home remodel. The construction took about 13 months to complete and the finished result result was beyond our expectations. Potter construction and their sub contractors were extremely professional and made the project mostly head ache free for us. We highly recommend them.

Potter Construction is top notch!
As a design professional I am always excited to work on a project with this firm because I know that they are not only professional, communicative and accurate but they will be organized and great listeners as well!
I enjoy and respect working with Potter so much that I chose them to handle my own personal remodel. The job progressed along on a timely schedule. The lead carpenter was on time every day and efficient from start to finish!
There was plenty of opportunity for collaborative problem solving and all decisions were confirmed with us prior to execution.
I can't say enough about the quality and craftmanship of Potter Construction!

Getting started was slow. But it was because the company was waiting for a specific lead to finish a previous job.
After that we were very satisfied with the work and attention to detail given our project. The lead, office and back-up personnel were helpful, professional and easy to work with.
We are extremely happy with the end result.

We used Potter Construction for an addition on our house. We got them involved over a year before we actually pulled the trigger. They worked with us on initial estimates, working with a architect and splitting our project into more manageable chunks (from a financial standpoint). Every day of the project the lead carpenter (Riley) was on site. He we very detail oriented, friendly and super-flexible for getting change requests and a couple side things done for us while he was here.
Cons: The project went a little longer than anticipated (mostly due to subs not holding to their initial scheduling and some aspects having to wait for weather to cooperate). Also, because some things that were talked about didn't make it into the detailed estimate, we ended up about 30% over.
Pros: The work is superb. Both the choice of subs used and the work of the main contractors was awesome. No corners cut. Being a mechanical engineer, I was taking detailed pictures every night and had lots of questions that Riley was happy to answer for me. At no time did we feel like there wasn't progress being made. We love our new space and get lots of complements from our neighbors.
Overall we are super-happy with everything and are excited to start another project with them next spring!

We selected Potter Construction after reviewing multiple contractors. We were impressed with their comprehensive attention to detail and planning. Our job was unusual in terms of excavation and access so we needed a contractor with experience. The Potter team worked with us trying to keep us apprised during the design phase while we waited for city permitting. Once execution started, the Potter team excelled in ability to get subcontractors lined up and keep the project moving. The on site team had the ability to take the plans and create the structure that identically matched our existing house. On site management and lead carpenter support was amazing. With a project this big and scary for us, Josh, our on site manager, made us feel like he was building his own home. The front office team partnered with us, especially during excavation, and we were pleased with their ability to listen to our concerns and work with us. Karl, Jeff and Matt, always took our calls, answered our questions and generally made us know how much they cared about our project and our home.
The project turned out to be exactly what we wanted, albiet more expensive than we initially assumed, but more beautiful than we imagined, thanks to the skillset of the Potter team. We trusted the team and we were not disappointed. We might suggest that Potter consider, for projects such as ours, ensuring they have on staff personnel to be able to discuss and challenge some of the engineering decisions which had to be made due to the nature of our project.
We would definitely recommend the Potter team to future clients

This review targets a specific employee of Potter Construction, Josh Nason. We met Josh at the beginning of the execution phase of our project. He was our on-site Lead Carpenter, and overall manager of this rather extensive project. The project came with extensive excavation and heavy equipment, in a small space, with many neighbors. Josh not only ensured our property was protected, but the neighborhood as well. Comments from neighbors included, "He's the hardest worker I've ever seen, where did you find him?" to "He's an asset to the neighborhood!" Josh never became overwhelmed, even with the "big dig" nature of the excavation work, and moved smoothly into his specialty when the foundation was in. He worked well with all the subcontractors, coordinating and moving them along to keep schedule. Throughout the project he kept us informed, offered his professional advice when requested, and pointed us in the right direction many times. Josh is intuitive and partnered very well with both of us. We grew to really trust him. Several times we would comment that before we made decisions we would consult with Josh. He comes with much experience, attention to detail, professional, and obviously loves his work and takes alot of pride in doing it!

We wanted to thoroughly renovate our unfinished basement since there was water leakage during heavy rains and the space was mostly unusable. We met the Potter Construction group on a tour of remodeled homes and admired both their professionalism and quality of work.
They kept us involved throughout design, budgeting and the construction process. Our basement was completely transformed into a beautiful lower level that still amazes us months after the renovation was finished. The workmanship is superb, and we are completely satisfied with our new basement.
Potter Construction is a reputable company with a skilled team happy to make sure you achieve your remodeling needs.

We used the Potter people to renovate 2 bathrooms in our condo in Seattle. They had remodeled the kitchen/living room in the same condo a couple of years ago, and had done a beautiful job, and I knew we would have the same experience again. They are meticulous, very detail oriented and careful. The job site was left clean each day, and the work was scheduled so that we always had a bathroom to use. Riley did a beautiful job. Work proceeded at a steady pace, with little down time. Their subcontractors were excellent, too. Would highly recommend them!

Potter did an amazing job on our bathroom. They definitely helped us realize our vision for our master bathroom that was relaxing and fit in with our 1924 Tudor home. They kept a detailed project schedule and the work site was kept amazingly clean which really minimized the impact on us during construction.
It's a premium product and is priced accordingly. I felt like we really had to be the ones on the lookout for cost savings to stay near budget.

We could not be happier with the job Potter Construction did on our almost-whole-house remodel. They enclosed a covered patio on the back of our small home to extend our tiny kitchen and add a master bathroom and closet. Their staff and sub-contractors did a superb job. We would hire them again in a heartbeat!

We are very pleased with Potter Construction's remodel of our 1940s house. It was a challenging remodel and nearly everything was replaced and updated from studs out. Potter is a premium builder who did an excellent job managing the subs, providing quality carpenters and project managers, was extremely thorough taking all things into consideration and carefully managing the remodel. Their post-remodel follow-up is also excellent. We trusted them and their customer service exceeds the "Nordstrom" experience in a residential construction setting! Would we have done things differently if we knew just how expensive it was to rebuild a 1940s house, yes, however, we love the result and are proud we didn't build a concrete box which is sadly becoming so typical in Seattle and ruining the quality of our neighborhoods!

The folks at Potter Construction were fantastic! From the beginning of the design process, through demo and all the way to putting on the finishes, they did a great job of helping us through our MASSIVE remodel project. Over the course of ten months, they completely remodeled every square inch of our home - including a re-configuration of our roof. The project was big, to say the least, and Potter Construction was very organized and professional the entire time. They provided a realistic time line and communicated very clearly throughout the process.
One of the great things about working with this company is that they assign you a general contractor and that person works exclusively on your project from start to finish. This means that you always know who to talk with when a question or concern arises. The quality of work that our general contractor, Brent, produced is top notch! No detail escaped his notice. He was very knowledgeable and straightforward about our options. He was very organized and communicative - timelines were realistic and if something unexpected put a bump in the road, Brent was quick to let us know what was going on and how we could deal with it.
It is obvious to me that Potter Construction understands what it takes to provide top quality service and they deserve their reputation as a reliable, professional, competent remodeler.

I have had the great pleasure of working with Potter Construction on multiple remodels over the past couple years. There are many reasons I would choose Potter Construction, but here are my top three. First, their friendliness and respect is above and beyond anything I have experienced. This really shines through in their approach and communication with their clients. Second, is their attention to detail. They do a phenomenal job reviewing the designs and specifications with me and the client to ensure they have a clear understanding of the design intent. Third, is the incredible craftsmanship. Nothing makes a designer (and client) happier than when the end result matches the design drawings. Potter has an extraordinary team of craftsmen that are artists in their own right. I know my clients are in good hands and will be over the moon with their completed remodel.

Potter Construction was wonderful. They remodeled the kitchen, bedroom, and added a bathroom and laundry room in our 1911 Craftsman home. The construction site was kept as clean and organized as was humanly possible. We were kept informed of the project progress every step of the way. Our job supervisor, Jeff had a calendar that was posted and updated each week so we knew at a glance what was happening and when trades were scheduled. Weekly meeting helped keep us informed as to budget and progress. The quality of the craftsman is superb. The work that they did was consistent with the original architecture of the house. I would highly recommend them.

Potter Construction did an amazing job helping us remodel the first floor of our 100+ year old home. We now have a completely renovated, modern kitchen with marble countertops, beautiful cupboards, high end appliances and a new bathroom and fireplace + mantle. All of Potter's employees - including Gary Potter himself - were highly invested in ensuring the success of our project and making sure we were happy with their progress each and every week. The project was slated for 4.5 months and we finished within a week of on-time. And when we uncovered additional work needed during the demolition phase, Gary and team were able to assess the "unknowns" and give us a clear plan on how to best handle them, while balancing between budget and quality to get the job done right. We worked with one of Gary's outsourced subcontractors, Vaughn, who helped us design our kitchen and pick out all the cabinetry and appliances. She was amazingly helpful with her design and esthetics pointers that made us think through how we could create a highly functional, "working" kitchen and countertop eating area for our family. In addition to Gary and Vaughn, we want to give a big shout out to both Matt and Jeff. Matt helped us with the overall construction design and budgeting process and ensured that as we had critical decisions to make, we had plenty of time to work through our options and collectively agree on the right approach to making them. Jeff was our lead carpenter and was fantastic. He kept a weekly and monthly schedule visible for us to look at every day. We also held a weekly meeting where we went over what was accomplished, what was coming next and any blockers or decisions that needed to be made in order to keep the project moving forward on time and on budget. Jeff became like an extended family member - we felt very comfortable having him in our home every day. He was friendly, courteous, clean, engaged with our kids and dog, and always made sure to start and finish the job with a clean house each day. He made sure we had a "workable" living situation while the major demolition and moving of pipes and installing electric was taking place on our first floor. We were able to live on our second floor for the entire time the project was taking place - with the exception of the 3 days when they refinished our hardwoods. We couldn't be happier with our project and have since learned that it has won 2 design awards on Houz since it was recently submitted for consideration. We would highly recommend Potter Construction and plan to use them again for any other home remodel projects we take on.

Thanks for the great review GW, we loved working with you and your master suite turned out beautiful!
We were impressed with Potter Construction throughout the build phase of our bathroom remodel. Riley, the Lead Carpenter, was extremely responsible and careful of our home, and he is an excellent listener. He picked up commends during our discussions, as well as observing carefully, and applied what he learned in the details leading to a very satisfyingly result. We were continually impressed with how quickly he works, and how well-scheduled the entire project was, including a variety of "as long as you're here" add-ons around our house. The subcontractors that Potter uses were equally professional, friendly, listened to our comments, and really stuck to the schedule. The weekly progress meetings, including reports of costs versus estimates, were very helpful in giving us confidence that the project would be completed as expected. The planning and design phase was accelerated when an earlier window opened up for our small project. We appreciated the frequent meetings with Matt and the designer, but too much expensive time was spend pursuing options that turned out to be beyond our budget. We've provided feedback to Potter on how that process could be improved with earlier budgetary estimates to avoid expensive but fruitless design efforts.

About 5 years ago we hired an architect to help us squeeze more living space out of our daylight basement, including adding a family room, an additional bathroom, relocating the mechanical systems, and adding more natural light. The architect's plan had called for a bath/mudroom which would have caused us to lose 32" from the garage/shop area. We did the demo, framed out the family room, added windows, and hired out the HVAC and plumbing. At that point, the project stalled in part because we were never in love with the plan for the bathroom/mudroom.
After a couple years, we did some research and interviewed some design/build firms and found Potter. What set Potter apart for us was at our first meeting they proposed we move the bathroom to a different corner of the basement, and the floor plan just seemed to fall into place from there. They also had ideas on how to minimize more of the mechanical work and find the headroom to build our stairs to code. They worked closely with us to provide a proposal that worked with the changes already completed and within budget.
Potter's people were great, especially the lead carpenter on our job. There were a couple of unforeseen issues, like the depth of our sewer line requiring a sump, or the existing french doors leaking into the basement, but Potter was able to keep us on schedule and budget. When we needed a little more clearance over the stairs, it had to come out of a built-in overhead cupboard. The lead carpenter came up with a way to neatly cut a small notch and box it in which allowed us to save the cupboard without a lot of additional work. He also custom-built a few access panels in the basement that were designed to match the trim. We were extremely happy with the quality of work and attention to detail on the finished products. We also really liked that we had weekly meetings throughout the process so we would know what to expect during the week. To save on costs, we planned to complete most of the painting ourselves at the end of the project. The folks at Potter provided suggestions to get us started while also making themselves available to answer our questions along the way. And after the project was completed, they made sure they were available to come back and adjust a few things to our liking.
I think the only limitation was the selection of trim and finish styles (craftsman-like) present to us (note: selection, not quality). Since our house is pretty simple the new work blended in well with the existing house but if different choices were wanted it might require more planning from the start.

Potter Construction remodeled our kitchen and family room in 2015. We are very happy with the new space and the care that Potter Construction put into making sure everything turned out the way we wanted it.
1) Our favorite part of the process was working with the lead carpenter, Riley. He was fantastic. He was very meticulous and we felt very confident that each part of the construction process was being done correctly.
2) I also liked the weekly meetings. These kept us informed of the upcoming work schedule and quickly addressed any issues we had.
3) Our final budget did end up over the estimate. This was a combination of extra work we asked for and some underestimating on the part of Potter Construction.

Thanks for the great review, we loved working with you and your beautiful renovation!
Potter did a major remodel on the main level of our house that included demo in the kitchen and dinning room to the studs, new electrical, plumbing, ductwork, drywall, painting, cabinets, counters, windows, sliding french patio doors, paint and new hardwood floors throughout the main level. They also removed the walls that enclosed the stairs to the upper level and installed a custom open rail design and hardwood stairs. Potter does a great job during pre construction and design. We thought we knew what we wanted until we went through the pre construction process, that became a great learning process for us that helped us understand what we could really have. Potter started and completed on time and ran a very thorough and professional construction experience with top notch managers and field team. We would use Potter again without thinking twice.

Wow - just..... WOW.
We went through a major remodel - kitchen, living room, new extended porch, added a gas fireplace, needed to move the stairs/entry.
The quality of the work & the people at Potter Construction are top notch.
The folks were open & honest & working with us every step of the way.
On time, on quality, pretty much on budget. Sure, we had some snags & some changes along the way. Our water heater blew (old age) - Potter had folks out the next day to deal with it. After using some 10 different paint samples trying to decide on color - it just wasn't 'right'. We needed to change it - The Potter team made it happen & gave us advice/ high level cost info we needed to make a quick decision.
Having the Potter team stress decision making & orders early kept us on track & kept the project moving steadily along.
I never before dreamed I would have the lovely living spaces we now have.
You want to work with these folks!
Big shout out to our project team: Matt Moisan, Karl Coy & our onsite project manager & all around go-to guy, Jeff Paquette.

They are a class act. From the top down they are professional, courteous, meticulous. Their "carpenter" (who did most of the actual work) worked seamlessly with us and all of the subcontractors. His work was perfect. The subcontractors they have chosen to work with also do excellent work.

Potter Construction did a kitchen/family room remodel for us with the actual construction starting in the spring of 2015. We did the design work with them in the fall of 2014.
The design process was about as good as it gets. Gary and his team made several visits to our home as the design evolved. We were involved in every part of the process and they were very responsive to our thoughts and suggestions. We ended up with (I think) seven different iterations of the design ranging from a "replace the cabinets, floor, counter top and appliances to one which really changed the look, feel and function of the area. We ultimately chose the last option to focus on and refine.
Potter construction is truly focused on customer satisfaction with a comprehensive pre-construction "this is what is going to happen meeting", weekly progress meetings and constant availability to answer questions via email or phone. They are professional in their conduct and their workmanship is of the highest quality. We live in an older home (1927) and Jeff, our carpenter, was constantly finding construction that wasn't up to current code and fixing it simply because it needed to be done and it was the right thing to do. Their subcontractors matched the quality standards that Potter Construction demonstrated.
We recommend Potter Construction without reservation to anyone considering a project and would be more than happy to show our home to anyone interested.

Excellent team of workers. Competent technicians, good personalities, easy to work with, professional in all ways. They know how to make the remodel experience rewarding. They converted a building that had a lot of mal-alignment and poor construction problems into a structure that was straight and true and conforming to the design intent originally established.

We had the pleasure of working with Potter Construction for an extensive kitchen and bath remodel last year. While living through a remodel is never a fun thing to go through, the team minimized the pain to the best of their abilities. The thing that sets Potter apart from other contractors is their great communication and organization. We had weekly meetings so there were no surprises and everyone was on the same page. They worked extremely well with our designer Vawn. Any issues that came up during the process were quickly addressed and they were readily available by phone or email. Their craftsmanship is top notch and we are pleased with the final product. They also stand by their work and have been great about taking care of any warranty issues that have come up. None by the way were craftsmanship issues but rather faulty fixtures that we picked out.

Potter Construction has completed a major remodel of our house, and we are ever so delighted with the results! We were also delighted along the way with the process. We really enjoyed working with the team throughout the entire project.
We recently bought the house, a 1920s bungalow with a family room that was added in the 1980s. It was solid, but most of the details were irregular and outdated. As recent retirees, we wanted to transform it into a place that would fit the way we live, and be a safe, comfortable, and beautiful home as we age. Some of the changes included removing a step between the kitchen and family room to create a truly single-story living space; replacing the rickety basement stairs with a lovely and comfortable new stairwell, adding a corner window seat and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves in the living room, and adding a wonderful front porch. The remodel was designed beautifully by Lathrop Douglass Architects.
The two biggest reasons we are grateful for having chosen Potter Construction are their communication and the quality of their work. Communication was outstanding throughout the project. It was consistent: we always knew the current status of the project. And it was positive: the team members worked well with each other, they worked well with their subcontractors, and they worked well with us. Their focus on quality has been evident in everything that has been done in the house. This may be due to Gary Potter’s ability to hire the best team members.
For example, Karl, our project manager, was a clear and effective communicator who stayed on top of every detail. He made sure that any decisions we needed to make along the way were presented to us in plenty of time so that the project schedule could proceed smoothly. He was a stand-out with his positive problem-solving approach and calm manner in dealing with unexpected events. He was such a pleasure to work with.
Dan was our master carpenter and supervised everyone on the site. We are especially grateful to him for his wonderful communication style, and for his phenomenal technical expertise. He made the site a very positive place with his organizational skills, clear communication, and friendly style. He kept the workplace - our house - clean and well organized, and everyone who worked here used safe practices and professional behavior - and they were all friendly too! Dan’s style influenced the entire project. He was meticulous about checking every detail and making sure things were just right. He created mock-ups for us to check to be sure certain elements were placed just the way we wanted them.
Potter Construction has created a system that works: they have great staff who all demonstrate care and concern for the project; they have great working relationships with their contractors; they are well organized and pay close attention to details; and they had weekly meetings with us so that we were all on the “same page.” For an expensive remodel, we feel we got our money’s worth.

STOP AND READ THIS REVIEW!! And when you are finished reading, HIRE THIS COMPANY.
When it came time for my wife and I to remodel our kitchen and main floor, we were uncertain how to select a contractor. Since 1996 I have mediated and arbitrated over 1200 matters,80% of which were for construction related problems. I have seen hundreds of bad contractors and unrealistic customers.
Attending our first Seattle Home Show in 2013, we ran across several contractors. Gary Potter was one. We interviewed 3. Mostly on faith, we selected Gary and his team. Gary introduced us to one of his preferred designers, Vawn Greany, a visionary kitchen designer. Together with Gary and Vawn we designed our new kitchen, selected appliances , fixtures, lighting etc all complimentary with each other. Our project involved a complete kitchen/family room demo, moving or eliminating walls, and transforming an older house into a home.
HERE is the first lesson. Take the time to plan your remodel. DO NOT DESIGN AS YOU BUILD. Fortunately Gary requires the project first be planned, scheduled, and expensed. Be prepared for weekly meetings with the team-do not skip the meetings, as they are scheduled for a reason; to keep the customer informed, the project on track and problems resolved.
Let me tell you about Potter Construction: experienced, professional, competent and transparent. Work performed with sense of humor is an added bonus. Gary's goal is to secure a referral from a customer, hence attention to detail while always putting the customer first. The employees are experts in their craft, and they show up on time, every day, every week. Potter anticipates problems, works them out without delay and cleans up the house EVERY DAY. Folks, these are adults you will be working with. People who have been perfecting their craft for 25-35 years. And Gary's team are craftsmen. The finish work is masterful, but so is that which you cannot see.
HERE is another key to why Potter is so extraordinary: Gary has worked out the best of the best Subcontractors: Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing. NO DRAMA with the subs. they show up on schedule, do their work, and come back when and if necessary. The entire process is seamless. Our project had a couple unexpected developments, and they were handled creatively and without delay.
HIRE THIS COMPANY. Hire Gary, and Karl, and Harry and Jason. You will be happy and your remodel will be the envy of your friends. And like my wife and me, you will provide lots of referrals!!
FEBRUARY 2016 REMODEL:
In 2016 we retained Potter Construction to remodel our upstairs. This was an easy choice as they did such a stellar job on our kitchen. Again, the work was flawless: this is the 'no punch list' contractor. As with our kitchen job, Potter assigns one person to oversee the work, coordinate the subs and perform all the carpentry and finish work, installation of fixtures, cabinets etc. This time Riley Ferguson was the main man. Riley is a wonder of human nature, a man accomplished in a variety of construction techniques, organized, detailed, calm, with great ideas and suggestions and always ahead of the next day and week. Riley planned this job to the day, and finished on time. Which was good as we had to move out of the house for 4 months. I must add, the project Super, Karl Coy, was once again guiding us through the process and smoothing out a couple of unexpected surprises from the City. Karl is a wonderful, positive and responsive partner, and a credit to Gary Potter's eye for talent and loyalty.
We also once again retained Vawn Greaney of Collaborative Interiors, to re-design the upstairs, bathrooms, find and secure the cabinetry, and work with us on the finish work. Vawn is so smart; with her designs, everything fits. kind of like magic.
we love working with Potter Construction. But ( I think) we are done with remodeling and contractors for a while! We would hire Potter again.

We had 4 windows replaced in a family room, and it was a fantastic experience. They spent a good amount of time measuring and fully examining the existing windows, and it really paid off. There was one day of prep once the replacement windows arrived, and then they did all the windows, including priming the outside trim, in one day. I left in the morning and came home that evening to see the job completely done and cleaned up.

Potter Construction came to remodel and improve the front porch on my 100+ year old home - this is the third job I've hired them for and I can't get over how well it all went.
The job went over the budget I set for it, but the quality is phenomenal. I'm having people walking by comment on how much better it all looks - although no one notices that Potter not only replaced the railing but we put it at a much, much higher height (to meet code.) They did such a great job that no one can tell - they can only tell that I resurfaced the decking, particularly if they'd walked on it before. The new porch feels so much more secure - and it is.
During the work, Potter found dry rot and other problems with the original structure - and their fixes were extremely effective without being over-the-top or excessively expensive.
The employees were respectful, hard working and good listeners - which is so important to me as a single woman, with ideas of how I want my house cared for.
I always recommend Potter. They are the best option when looking for high quality, complete and dependable work done! If you want the cheap, quick fix that won't hold up - you want to go elsewhere...

Potter Construction completed two projects for me. They completely remodeled my kitchen. That project was around $70,000. I was pleased with their work and asked them to close in my porch and make it into a sun room. That project was around $35,000.
Both projects were done on time and within the budget we agreed to. The were very prompt and cleaned up after their work every day.
In addition I asked them to do some minor project that I was equally happy with.
Their work helped me to sell the house. Many prospective buyers commented on it.
I no longer live in the area but would gladly use their services again if I did.

If you want a remodeling company that:
1. Works closely with you and within your budget in a respectful, comfortable, non-pressuring setting
2. Has extremely skilled workers who are part of the company and not contracted out
3. Has friendly, professional and trustworthy personnel on site and in the office
4. Works with you to make the best product selections
5. Leaves completed projects clean and spotless
....then Potter Construction, Inc. is the one for you.
It has been several years since our remodel and we still love it the same way we did when the project was newly completed. Potter Construction is highly recommended!

Potter Construction was the general contractor for an interior remodel job of our home. Work included replacing the carpet with hardwood flooring on 2 floors, kitchen remodel, bathroom updates, painting and some electrical work.
Work was done to our total satisfaction, was completed on time and within budget. Potter supervised the subs and made sure the work was done to the highest standards, and the work Potter did was excellent, too.
We knew of some remodels that were nightmares for the homeowners and Potter made sure that we didn't experience those kinds of issues.

They did a terrific job remodeling our small kitchen, helping us design it to incorporate a former porch, working with a difficult space, and still keeping the kitchen space as efficient as possible.
Gary Potter was of particular help coming up with a design element that gives the kitchen real pizazz. Then his crew did a super job of installation, and did it all cheerfully and well.
I would have given the job 5 stars except for 2 mistakes their designer made (and she's long gone from their organization). One of the mistakes was minor and corrected, the other more major--and Gary agreed long ago to fix it when I have the time.

I am writing to highly recommend Potter Construction. I hired them to perform a remodeling job for my home (tile & wood flooring, kitchen remodel, installation of french doors) in June of 2009. They were very knowledgeable about all aspects of the project and were very friendly and professional. They completed the project on time & on budget. They were there for me whenever I had questions or concerns. The project touched every room in my home but I was never made to feel trapped in or exiled from my home during the project.
Recently I had a problem with the sink in the kitchen. I called Potter Construction for help as I wasn't sure who to turn to. They immediately responded to my call, even though it was the Friday before Memorial Day weekend and worked to put me in touch with the subcontracting company that had previously installed the sink. The sink was fixed AT NO COST TO ME, even almost 4 years after the initial installation. Potter Construction stands behind their work and provides excellent customer service. I will be using them again and will be recommending them to anyone who is planning any sort of home project.

Potter Construction designed and built a kitchen remodel and 2nd story addition that we thoroughly enjoy, and will for years to come. The designers' creativity far exceeded our own, and the execution of their designs is a wonderful, livable space. Project foreman was proactive. Scheduling and productivity were excellent. Carpenters did beautiful work, cleaned up after themselves, were accommodating, affable, and gracious about our dog. The dog misses them greatly. Exceptional network of quality subcontractors-- foundation, plumbing, mechanical, drywall, flooring, tile. The concrete is a masterpiece. The plumbing literally changed our lives, and we appreciated the fine attention to detail. The tile-setter was collaborative, artistic, and also detail-oriented, giving us a backsplash that made our kitchen a showplace. No construction project is without unforseen problems, but Gary Potter and his team were always willing to listen and go above and beyond to arrive at a resolution. We appreciated Keith for troubleshooting the plans in advance, revealing a calculation error in the stair specifications, and a descrepancy in soffit measurements; Roshele for answering with great design solutions, forestalling any construction delays; and Karl for the lengths taken to remediate flaws in the cabinetry.

Gary and his team did an excellent job remodeling our kitchen and living room. They had done a similar job for a friend of ours and their space remodel was so beautiful we decided to use Potter Construction for ours. The team was amazingly knowledgable, helpful in design, tailored their presentations to our request for paring down options to only the most relevant, and our space came out beautifully. Their team was also very pleasant to have in our home for 3 months, a definite plus. Our project required major structural changes in our home and I was always confident that everything was completed to code in the safest and most beautiful manner. HIghly recommend!

This was a high end bathroom remodel of a 100+ year home. High quality work. Accurate estimates (didn't have surprise costs other than those that we incurred ourselves through upgrades). Very thorough. We had no concerns or worries that corners were being cut.

Potter Construction was very easy to work with. It was a complete kitchen remodel. A breakfast nook was removed and a beam put in the ceiling to replace the baring wall. The back door was removed and moved over to give room for a full depth counter. Wall were stripped down to the studs, insulation put in and electrical updated. The crew was friendly and respectful of my living environment and kept work areas clean and organized. I was informed of schedules and progress with weekly meetings which gave me time to ask questions. All employes of Potter Construction were professional and I was also directed to suppliers who provided quality products and workmanship. Potter Construction stands behind their workmanship and I ended up with a kitchen better than I had ever dreamed of. I had many ideas for my kitchen, but without Gary's suggestion and advice it would not have turned into the kitchen I have today. It is beautiful and functional. I am thrilled with my new kitchen.

We have done 2 remodels with Potter Construction. The last was very complicated involving many engineering challenges adding a second story to a house not designed to cary the load. While difficult and with us living in the house too Potter Construction made a successfully completed our house which we get many compliments on. Many have said it does not look like an addition but looks like it has always been that way. That was a major concern of ours and a design priority. Potters design staff and crew litterally worked out a plan in and around us to give us our dream house. they are up to difficult challenges. Highly recommended.
