“Darek Janczy of DJ Construction recently completed a comprehensive remodel of my 2,433 sqft house in Pacific Grove. The project included replacing all windows, flooring, and doors; removing 1970’s “popcorn” ceilings; installing overhead LED lighting in all rooms; expanding the outdoor deck; knocking down old walls and building new ones; reconfiguring the front entry; replacing all fixtures; repainting the exterior and interior; strengthening the foundation; and creating a stunning new open kitchen with a 10-foot island. Darek’s skill in all aspects of construction is evident everywhere in my house, as are his thoughtfulness and attention to detail. In addition, he possesses such positive qualities as honesty, integrity, and reliability. Most of my project was done while I was out of town, but Darek and his crew could always be trusted to show up every day and stay on schedule, within budget. Whenever an unplanned event occurred (such as asbestos in old ceilings and termites in one bathroom wall), Darek always found an efficient, cost-effective solution. One of the many reasons I enjoyed working with Darek is his ability to tune in quickly to my tastes and preferences. Whenever he had to make a design choice without me, it was always the choice I would have made myself. Striving for perfection and demonstrating his strong work ethic, Darek always went the extra mile. Over the years I have worked with many contractors on both new builds and remodels, but Darek stands out from all the rest. In addition to being very pleasant to work with, his creativity and quality of work are second to none; and I wholeheartedly recommend him for any construction project.”

“I live in upper Monterey, Sal and his crew came out and did a fantastic job on my on-suite bathroom, The job took a little longer than expected but only by a week. The finished product was beautiful and we are looking forward to having Sal come back in the for the next project. He spent time with us going over different options and even spent a couple of hours with us at the tile and pluming stores.”

“Jeff Talmadge and his talented crew replaced all the floors in our home. Because of health reasons, we needed to replace our mexican tile floors with smooth wide plank hardwood floors; while we stayed in our house. - Everyday, the crew arrived on time - worked hard all day - left for the day after all scraps and dust was taken out. Our floors turned out beautiful - Jeff was wonderful to work with and he made us feel as if we were his only clients - even though we weren't.”

“I hired Guido Ausenda from Monterey Kitchens Inc. to design and plan my cabinetry requirements for my beach house that I am remodeling in the Del Monte Beach area of Monterey. My original scope was not to plan on spending as much money on the cabinetry but I am so glad I engaged his knowledge and expertise to work with my contractor and architect. The house is a reverse floor plan meaning that the living space is upstairs to capture the beautiful ocean views and so space planning was crucial as both my husband and I are cooks and entertain a lot. If anybody is embarking on such a project, all I can truthfully say is that hiring an expert with years of experience is the key to a smooth and successful remodel. Without Guido's expertise, creativity, connections with other vendors and wealth of knowledge this project would not have turned out as seamless and beautiful. He was instrumental in challenging the design plans, use of space, materials and excellent at facilitating and working with the contractor and his crew in bringng solutions and design ideas to many of our challenges. Guido and Annie really made the difference and were instrumental to the success of our remodel. We are truly grateful we listened to him.”
