Furniture layout for an awkward open floor plan
Comments (5)David - Thanks! Appreciate that you even drew out the plan. :) You are absolutely right, it's been difficult finding an optimum layout. In fact, our current layout is more or less the same as your plan. Would you have chosen different furniture - a smaller sofa or a different dining table perhaps? (Also, I'm curious: is there a good reason why the architect had the pillar like that?) Mona - Do you mean having a buffet at the entry? I currently do have a sideboard, though it wouldn't fit at the entry - it's about 67" wide by 18" deep. It's currently placed in the middle of the long wall. There's actually still sufficient clearance between it and the 3-seater sofa in David's plan. plague - The household shelter is a local (Singapore) building requirement. Its walls are reinforced and is meant to be a shelter in times of emergency. It can't be removed, and any renovations carried out cannot affect its integrity (there is a list of permitted and prohibited works). Normally it is just used as a pantry or storeroom....See MoreTV Placement dilemma
Comments (3)The only option really as Emily says is the the bottom left side wall of your plan. I wouldn't suggest putting it in front of the balcony - that's just not good circulation. And any ways you'd probably have a problem with electricity and plugging in your components and have wires all over the floor in front of the balcony. Put it on that wall and use a swivel mount so you can angle the TV around as you need to. You could also use a lift cabinet if you want to conceal your TV at times......See MoreDesign dilemma -
Comments (2)If you are currently a student, a bigger study table may be more useful than having extra bed space (especially if you are sleeping solo most nights). A full size (double) bed typically sleeps two people comfortably and is fine for occasional overnight guest (not so fine long term). Perhaps, the bigger study table for now and later on you can always go for the bigger bed....See MoreHad a wuff day? Bury your best dog puns here!
Comments (15)So...I have a bit of a design dilemma and could do with some Pointers. I tried to build a dog house but I only had enough dogs to build 3 walls. I could Springer couple hundred bucks to put a Setter strong Boxers on the final side. Howl ever, that increases the overall pawprint. This will Pinscher bit of Greyhound I had Setter side for a veggie patch. On the Otterhound, I could try Retriever large Labrador from somewhere and Whippet on the open end instead. But I'm still going to need clearway space for the Labrador to swing open. Schnauzer can't think a way around this mongrel of a problem at all. I'm really chasing my tail on this one! Hopefully I can get this project done without further Mastiff mistakes. Well... Lhasa apso!...See Moreqam999
