Console table that is going in my living room. Anything I can add? Or remove? Thank you

Coffee table books! Everything on this table is ornate, try something more solid.

You need to use vignettes! There are hundreds of beautiful samples of "console vignettes" on Houzz in photos section. The fun thing about vignettes is that you most likely have everything you need already. It's called "shopping" your own home and I can see already that you have beautiful things. Notice in the photos that there is a science to vignettes called "the rule of three". 3 items of varying heights that create a triangle. Notice sometimes that books are used to create the height needed. Have fun "shopping". Its such a fun thing to do with stuff that might be in other rooms or in closets or even kitchen cabinets. Knowing how to create vignettes is a valuable skill in design. Enjoy!

Hi George! The bookmarklet page has changed a little bit since this post was first started. 1. Visit http://www.houzz.com/buttonsAndBadges#houzzButtons and scroll down a little bit to find the "Save to Ideabook" Houzz Button. 2. Drag the "Save to Ideabook" to your Firefox Toolbar 3. Visit another site that you'd like to Save an image from and click the "Save to Ideabook" bookmarklet. I think if you want to show off the nice wood grain and inlay of the table, go light color on the sofa, even cream like the drapes, or neutral like the carpet, or a shade darker. Then you can add whatever accents you like in pillow colors, accessories which can easily change seasonally or with time and little cost. The sofa(s) are so big that you might not want them making the most design statement in the room, but just providing comfy seating and a big amount of soothing neutral color. It helps to look at your room like its a landscape painting, foreground, midground, background. Sofas would be midground and you don't want them too bright or busy to overpower the other planes in the roomscape. The colors you have now work, but I would go solid with a textured fabric, something soft like a chenille.

Hi Rubypumps. Unfortunately you have made the common mistake of mixing undertones. I see this a lot as a colour consultant. Mistakes with your hard finishes are the worst kind because they are very costly to change. Right now your walls have a pink undertone and your walls behind the tub and counter are clearly blue grey. Since blue is complementary to pink, it brings out the pink in the tile even more and the clean blue makes the tile look dirty. It may be hard for you to see this, but this is what's happening and this is probably why you don't like your bathroom. Since you chose such a busy mosaic, it has become the boss (and focal point) of the room and I would now keep your other finishes as simple as possible. If you can, down the road, change the beige tile. Because unfortunately, there is no magic colour combination that will make it disappear. Working with what you have, I would most likely go with a more neutral cabinet like Uniboard G21 Viva Walnut. It will help warm up the space. Black is too stark for this bathroom.

Are these your chairs? They are pretty good looking. You can go with something like a round copper-topped table, use them as a host and hostess chair in a formal dining setting, or as parlor/library occasional chairs. Those would be a few great uses for them. They are very nice and can either go rustic, craftsman, lodge or traditional in the right environment.

One or two larger coffee table books, national geographic has a couple of great ones that interest most everyone and they can still out it down when dinner is served. Topics/destinations Serves as a great conversation.
