I think if you select a wall color that is too well coordinated to the tile, it will only bring out the vibrant pattern in the tile. So pick colors you like. Let your personal style and the vibe of the rooms dictate the colors. Your walls, furnishings and accessories will take center stage so you won't really notice the tile. Area rugs will down play the tile too. Ceilings are a great opportunity to add color also.

I would reupholster the rosewood furniture in natural canvas or a natural linen look . Ask the upholsterer to do the job with NO welting. That will make it look more contemporary. Then stop by West Elm, Pottery Barn, or Crate & Barrel for some brightly colored pillows. I'm thinking coral might work well with your tile, but you be the judge of what color works best with it. For now we'll assume it's coral. So I'd like to see one wall painted coral if you're so inclined. Otherwise, I'd leave the walls white. Next, let's cover some of that tile you don't like. Two choice: 1. A rug you'll take with you. Perhaps a shaggy offwhite one. 2. A rug you'll leave in your rental. This could be a large piece of carpeting, cut and bound like a rug. Measure for size before going to the carpet store. Most carpeting is 12' wide, so figure on making a rug 12 x something so that there is no waste, or you could make a couple of 6 x somethings. If you could change out the rosewood coffee table for another, I think you'd be happier with the furniture. It needs some variety. Even a couple of small tables from IKEA could work for 6 to 8 months.

Hi Rubypumps. Unfortunately you have made the common mistake of mixing undertones. I see this a lot as a colour consultant. Mistakes with your hard finishes are the worst kind because they are very costly to change. Right now your walls have a pink undertone and your walls behind the tub and counter are clearly blue grey. Since blue is complementary to pink, it brings out the pink in the tile even more and the clean blue makes the tile look dirty. It may be hard for you to see this, but this is what's happening and this is probably why you don't like your bathroom. Since you chose such a busy mosaic, it has become the boss (and focal point) of the room and I would now keep your other finishes as simple as possible. If you can, down the road, change the beige tile. Because unfortunately, there is no magic colour combination that will make it disappear. Working with what you have, I would most likely go with a more neutral cabinet like Uniboard G21 Viva Walnut. It will help warm up the space. Black is too stark for this bathroom.

Hi, I agree with Gary, do a hotel setting to make it more appealing. Here’s an idea. Remove the partition, move the closet down and add a big slider freeing up the space for a spacious bedroom with lounge seating/dining by the window. Think about the tv wall where it can have a proper work desk space. And do you have balcony? Perfect !
