What would you do to modernise this dated facade?
Comments (2)Here are a few examples of modern sidewalks. I think that I would replace, stain or cover the entry sidewalk with large rectangles of concrete or stone. I would also replace the door with a more modern door. Perhaps you could just paint the door that you have but definately remove the storm door or replace it. Paint the trim & facia a charcoal color would be nice. I think in the entryway I would cover the brick with a horizontal wood plank stained in a rich color and replace the light fixture. Comments (5)I think if you want to show off the nice wood grain and inlay of the table, go light color on the sofa, even cream like the drapes, or neutral like the carpet, or a shade darker. Then you can add whatever accents you like in pillow colors, accessories which can easily change seasonally or with time and little cost. The sofa(s) are so big that you might not want them making the most design statement in the room, but just providing comfy seating and a big amount of soothing neutral color. It helps to look at your room like its a landscape painting, foreground, midground, background. Sofas would be midground and you don't want them too bright or busy to overpower the other planes in the roomscape. The colors you have now work, but I would go solid with a textured fabric, something soft like a chenille....See MoreHelp!! Matched wrong tiles with mosaic cove at bathtub. How can I make

And where are you putting the mosaic.Perhaps ramping up the black in accents will legitimize the beige and blackhttps://www.houzz.com/photos/jane-lockhart-interior-design-kylemore-model-home-dublin-traditional-bathroom-toronto-phvw-vp~1267669...See MorePls help, mosaic doesn't match with wall tiles, how can I salvage this
Comments (13)Hi Rubypumps. Unfortunately you have made the common mistake of mixing undertones. I see this a lot as a colour consultant. Mistakes with your hard finishes are the worst kind because they are very costly to change. Right now your walls have a pink undertone and your walls behind the tub and counter are clearly blue grey. Since blue is complementary to pink, it brings out the pink in the tile even more and the clean blue makes the tile look dirty. It may be hard for you to see this, but this is what's happening and this is probably why you don't like your bathroom. Since you chose such a busy mosaic, it has become the boss (and focal point) of the room and I would now keep your other finishes as simple as possible. If you can, down the road, change the beige tile. Because unfortunately, there is no magic colour combination that will make it disappear. Working with what you have, I would most likely go with a more neutral cabinet like Uniboard G21 Viva Walnut. It will help warm up the space. Black is too stark for this bathroom....See Morehouse mad
