Mable? Honed? Reno is starting on kitchen, have dark blue (midnight) lower cabinets from Kraftmaid and 'canvas' uppers. Thinking of honed carrara marble for the countertops - wondering if that is what I'm seeing here. Hope my kitchen turns out as nice as yours!

Do you have enough height to put in a counter depth refrigerator that may be taller than usual? That way you can have added fridge storage going up. Or you can do a smaller refrigerator and buy a separate freezer for the basement.

consider resale as well. taller counters mean higher uppers, which would make me (5'2) walk away from buying your house. you could consider a counter section/island of thicker butcher block for prep and chopping that could easily be retrofitted with a normal thickness of granite or quartz in the future. sink grids raise the effective sink bottom by about 3/4 of an inch, i'm wondering if some are taller than that.

Hello, I am thinking of using metal (blacken steel??? any suggestions?) for my counter top which will house a top mounted sink and an induction hob. Does anyone have any experience with using a metal counter top or pros and cons to do something like that? I've seen it done in Aseop stores but I wonder if it works in a home kitchen setting.
