Turf or artificial grass

Can you confirm if the grass is turf or artificial grass? If it is artificial, what the best type to to purchase.

Go for turf !!! Buy a petrol lawnmower with built in roller, water it, fertilise it and mow stripes into it - every time you walk on it your be reminded how much nicer turf is.

Artificial, you can also get stripes in artificial turf.

You can check out the outdoor floor tiles like the Scala (Google Snap and Go tile) which are easy to piece additionally on the ground for a new look. ;) I saw another brand here, http://list.qoo10.sg/item/OUTDOOR-TIMBER-FLOOR-TILE-SINGAPORE-SELLER-100-AUTHENTIC-BEAUTIFUL/482453309 (not sure where this brand is from but they all work the same). They even have faux grass, stones as well as timber. Definitely easy to DIY, and you can combine different surfaces together if you want (stones and wood combo for example).

Hi Tammy, these planter boxes are pretty common these days and we've covered lots of them for homeowners staying in places like The Minton and The Palette. Our proposed solution is to build a stainless steel structure with industrial-grade walkway grating to span the depression in the balcony. This solution ensures a lifespan of 10 years and beyond. Then, we give homeowners the option of covering the area with artificial grass or wooden decking. I'm not sure about your balcony, but most balconies do get rainwater falling on it. Artificial turf! The green (they come in different colours, too, if you'd like to be psychedelic) adds a lively pop of colour to a blah space, and they're designed in easy-to-install tile-style units that have some built-in drainage for minimal maintenance. Absolut Outdoors and Green Turf can tell you more :) And I'd hang an outdoor art piece or a screen for air plants on that blank wall, too, to enliven your balcony.

Your beautiful balcony that you own has a planter box (trench). You could either plant in there and give yourself some privacy from prying eyes or you could install decking to the area and have more space for your furniture layout. Another option is to create a bench but do be aware if you have children or are planning for the future.
