How does this work? Making wall collages look good.
Comments (20)work out the wall space you want to cover, measure this on the floor. then start laying out our design within the space on the floor to create your design. There has to be lines running through the collage so there is a method to the madness- we don't want a messy looking arrangement, there must be a flow. You can line up the matts with outside edge of other frames etc. Layout all of your pics on the floor and mix up the frame styles and sizes amongst your layout. Take photos of your layout and then start hanging. My tip is don't start hanging until you have your plan 100% !!! lots of neck stretches too! i recently put together this collage and need a neck massage afterwards ;-)...See MoreAdvice for vertical garden
Comments (6)Forget about fake plants. It will just be a dust magnet. Plus, the toxin release from the plastic and adhesive is not the idea of green after all. But then again, planting on walls indoor is a big commitment. You need to be very sure as it does require quite a lot of care, especially if the area is low on natural light. You may need plant lightings. Start small, like what I did with a photo frame size. Outdoor is easy, I have one at the balcony, where water is not a problem and ample sun lights. Both DIY project. Did not cause me an arm or leg....See Morehow to optimize small 3 bedroom layout
Comments (5)Hello, In 3 years time, you need to put back the wall since u have a 9 yrs old Son hitting teenager and expect own space or your girl would prefer her private space as girl and part of build self-respected lady. Beginning putting them together helps build bond and family strength. Best to start building independence early, makes your parenting easier. Build a home rather than a house. A space is meant to build relationship. With your family size, I would not suggest breaking wall. Extend living room, best is extending into balcony by creating same levels as living room. Now got zip blinds which seal aircon space within balcony open to living. Having glass showcase is good for your toys display. See idea from Ikea. For your new home starting, get basic done prosper. Basic means the essentials. For other parts, take your time and enjoy finding more ideas and shopping around till the great feeling comes to u. If not sure, I think Ikea has many combinations so if u do not like after few years, easy to do make-over. Expensive furniture is too painful to change. Ha! More space for bedroom? use the folding type beds and double as study table. I use platform bed like Japanese room. For Long dining tables, there are extendable type when guests comes. Ikea comes cheapest. There are premium in other Malls. Get extra chair that is stackable not foldable, hurt kids fingers and takes space. Have fun!...See MoreWhy does sound come in through my closed windows?
Comments (0)Magnetite Insights – Practical window knowledge made simple. Windows are commonly a little understood element when it comes to decisions in the building or renovation process. Often the impact a window can have on the comfort of a room is underestimated. Our blog aims to provide information in simple terms on what is important to consider to be able to make informed buying decision. Working from home during the Circuit Breaker, we had the chance to experience a large variety of sounds enter our spaces, many of which we had never noticed before. You may be wondering how these sounds can get in - even though your window is closed. Well, it is simple – Sound is sneaky. You give it the slightest chance and it will wiggle through any gap. And windows and doors are usually the weakest spot in a wall or façade when it comes to sound leakage. Did you know that sound waves, unlike light waves, can bend around corners, penetrate solid objects and curve through microscopic gaps that we didn’t even know were there? Sneaky. Here are a few ways sound can enter through your closed window: Through window panels that do not seal properly. If you have a sliding window, there is no compression that seals the airflow from the outside to the inside. If you have a push-out window with a single sliding lock, then often on the top and bottom of your window panel the window is not pressed onto the seals. If the windows do not close tight then sound can enter through the gaps. Run your hand along the edges of the closed window to see if there gaps. Where the glass sits in the frame: With time, your glazing might have become loose. This can not only cause the glass to rattle in the wind but also creates a route for sound to come in. Inspect all around the seal both inside and outside to find any tears, missing or torn rubber, silicone or filler. Between window frame in wall: Although it looks sealed up, there could be small, hairline cracks between window and wall which would allow sound to come in through hollow areas in the wall on either side. Have a look along all sides of the window to see if there are cracks or openings visible. The Window Frame: Depending on the type of profile, sound can come straight through the window frame. Especially if you have hollow aluminium frames this can be a major source of sound transmission, no matter how good your glass or sealing. Solid or foam-filled window frames are absorbent and therefore less sound can move through. You can put your ear on your window frame and have a listen to find out if your window frame is hollow. Through the Glass: Yes, sound can and does travel through glass. The thinner the glass then the more sound goes through it. Sound travels through glass because it’s a rigid material. So, the next time you reach for the ear plugs or noise-cancelling headphones at home, have a good look at your windows to see if you can spot the problem. The BCA (Building and Construction Authority) in Singapore recommends that all windows are thoroughly checked every 6 months to ensure they are safe and secure. In our next Q & A blog, we will look at ways in which you can improve the sound proofing of your windows or check out our window soundproofing solution here....See MoreAngel 18432
