Entryway ideas

Closing on our new home in a few days. These pictures are with the previous owners items, it's now going to be completely empty. Any ideas? functionally I do need a simple seating area but not a storage area in the entryway because there is a large closet there
for shoes, etc. Thanks in advance.

Beautiful home! I would consider removing the screen, vases and silk plant from the upper shelf in the entry. I would also consider a very small table and a mirror at the entry, for you and guests to set a few items as you enter the home, but other than that the space is quite busy with entries, staircases and I would also replicate the table as in the pic shown as this provides a nice transition to the remainder of the living space, and is not too large to over power the space.

Why are their drywall posts in the middle of the staircase? This looks off - is it structural?

Hi Few points: 1. It's not an independent residential apartment. It is a flat in a 25storey block 2. I have attached the floor plan for reference. The entrance is not too huge. 3. It's good to know that you guys have liked the Bathroom & kitchen design. The tiling work is in progress and it has come out well. I will take few snaps and post 4. When I say resort look - I understand and mean a simplistic natural looking design. More towards wood, nature, green, matt finish etc... Hope i am not confusing anyone here 5. Do you think the bathroom & kitchen design gels with what I mean by resort look. 6. The foyer area is a small (not too big) entrance. It's like a passage as you can see in the pics I posted earlier. When you enter you don't see the entire living room rather you see the wall (kitchen wall), where we intend to keep our dining table. Some thoughts on designing that wall is also requested Thanks!

Hi Rachel, This is quite easy to fix. Firstly I would brighten the space up with a white paint such as Nippon Violet Whispers (warm white), this will give you a good base to work from. Then I would replace your table with one that is larger. This table is too small to be useful and is making your entrance feel small. I recommend using teak and keeping this console table simple in design. On the wall I would place artwork - the bigger the better as this will make a dramatic statement. Then add some lighting (table lamp on console table) and decorative items and voila your entrance will be instantly chic! I have mocked up two options for you - one is based on blues, the other pinks, so depending on your preference you can go either way. Depend on what you prefer. Do you want to "hide" the kitchen when you have guest or dun want to aircon the kitchen area when you switch on your airconditioning in the living room? Because you have a L-shape ledge near the door, I think the best option would be sliding door, either glass or wood type. If you are into country, then a barn door design may be good too.

Hi 4eva zx, It's not optimum if you don't want to build a bespoke TV wall/console where I've placed the TV here (suggest that you get something where you can swivel the TV towards the sofa, or slightly extend that wall so the TV can be directly in front of the sofa), but in terms of spatial efficiency, your round table would be better placed like so: This is so that it's near the kitchen and you can use it for meals for more than two people. This placement will also allow you to make this family heirloom a visual focal point and conversation piece for your home. If you ever need to use a bigger table for gatherings with more people, you can simply put a rectangular top onto the round table and seat 6-8 people – the placement provides for space that allows this. Find a good ID or decorator who will work towards incorporating this family heirloom in your new home, and you'll be able to enjoy it for years to come. Hope this helps!

I would do a table in the center of the foyer and a chez or bench on the left as you walk in.

I would leave the main entry open - just put a chest, console, or bench by the stairs where the previous owners had furniture, and add a rug at the door.
