Our 1st home came fully furnished & our bedroom has taken the backseat. We have been using a comforter/curtains that came with it & must make it our own now. I'd love to have plain white cozy bedding but we learned the hard way with our big dog that any off white/white eventually changes so that limits MANY options I like. My next problem is that I ordered curtains that I LOVE but my husband is going to HATE. He does not like things "too girly" but often ends up thinking I mix pieces that turn out well. Our headboard is grey & furniture is dark brown. I have included the current photos(terrible) as well as the curtains ordered. Needing bedding ideas that will tone down the curtains some. Also included photo of fern pictures because I have always wanted to use something similar and some "rustic" decor in the bedroom. I may have to ditch the ordered curtains but have had so much trouble finding bedding I really like and thought having something to go off of that I like so much might help. We also plan to remove the bathroom doors & replace with a barn door instead. Help! :(

Comments (11)I opened my earlier post to edit the paint name in case you ever want to paint non-tufted, no-nap fabric. Unfortunately, my cat Linguine loves the binging and bonging sounds of the computer when he stands on the keyboard. Not helpful. It disappeared so... here is the name: Simply Spray Fabric Paint for Upholstery. (They have your charcoal gray) It did not make the fabric crunchy, stiff or weird. Nobody wants crunchy, stiff, or weird :-) Again, I would not paint the fabric on your gorgeous bed but I would change the wood color. The black edge and empty white room are the reasons it looks heavy. If you paint the black, I would suggest using an artist brush on the edge that meets the fabric even with fabric covered. House or painter's brushes are too wide for good control in that tight space. They are not as flexible as artists brushes nor as small. The Paris bed I mentioned was gray velvet and soft matte metallic gold wood. Soft, romantic, dreamy and transporting to a world of Princesses and Kings. Comments (10)Just wondering what is the current wall color? Looks lavender. I'm not a fan of accent walls in a bedroom. To me a bedroom should be relaxing and varying wall colors seem stimulating by their very nature (think they're great in other rooms though). But if you want to do one, I would do as you suggested, the wall where your headboard is located. Figure out what you want to keep (sounds like the headboard and the red chair are definitely staying), then work around that. I think cool greys are very pretty and a wonderful neutral that work would work well with your headboard and chair. Then you could bring in the other colors you like through bedding and artwork. If storage is an issue, can you get some bins on wheels for beneath your bed? Also can you consolidate all those smaller tables and get one larger table/storage piece in its place? I would check out IKEA if it's in your budget. Also given the size of your bedroom, if possible I would go with simple curtains that are the same color as your walls. 6 years agoHi. I'm not sure if you're buying the fern prints or just whether they're for inspiration? I might go for navy bedding but keep a couple of pillows white (presumably they're safe?!). Then I'd layer a faux fur throw to bring in the rustic element over the top of the navy throw (pick your dogs fur colour!). Then I'd pick out the mustard from the curtains, these cushions are by Clarissa Hulse. You can add a fern on the chest of drawers. I might also add some mirrors behind the lamps
