Kitchen Help
We are buying a home at the end of this month in Chandler, AZ. If anyone knows what newer builds in AZ look like an umm hum..2007 they all look the same. I am attaching a picture. It is basically brown and brown... with a side of tan and black tile
. My husband will not paint the cabinets he likes the cherry......although he works a lot. The tile and Gold granite have to stay, unfortunately.... I like neutral colors but not brown and browner. I am trying to make it more lively somehow... the paint color and backsplash have me baffled, the home is an open concept so it needs to be able to transition to everywhere else in the home as well. I am thinking of paint colors like Revere Pewter and repose gray...... I am open to all suggestions!!! My style is timeless more or less with some industrial chic. I would love some help.

6 years agoJust a suggestion...maybe your husband could be geeently persuaded into just keeping some of the units in the cherry, so then you could pick a different shade and paint say the top ones in that, keeping the bottom ones cherry? Also I think the wall colour maybe needs changing too?

If you are looking for advice from US designers we are work in inches. The best advice I can offer is to hire a certified kitchen designer. Comments (6)Hello there :) Nice design by the way. Perhaps you can: 1. Change the door panels only. Keep the existing shape & the cupboards, the carpenter can 'update' the doors with different handles too (like image above). 2. Spray paint is more $$$ but I think it is longer lasting. 3. Laminated is less $$ but as we all know it chips & eventually the laminate comes out (wear & tear). 4. Unless you want the inside of the cabinet to be changed from existing white to a different colour, then the carpenter have to dismantle everything & redo. Comments (2)Hi Alice, that's a really good question - challenging dilemma with a strong limitation (no hacking!) but I believe workable. Would you consider making changes to the backsplash? Adding some strip lighting will help too. Given the pink checkered floor tiles cannot be changed, I'd favour going for very neutral and clean looking cabinetry - to reduce visual clutter and bring in some harmony. Regardless of colour of finish choice, I prefer cabinetry that's not see-through. 6 years agoLove the Quartz, personally I'd just go for upstands rather than metro tiles. I would change the floor to limestone for something classical and the neutral tones will work with the cherry. Revere pewter could be a great choice depending on the light. Just avoid any paint with green unless you want the cherry to pop even more. I'd paint the upper cabinets on the fridge freezer run in the wall colour and also the door to the pantry (?) so they blend in. If you're changing the worktop then I'd also change the legs on the island as they're quite dated. I would also paint the island, something like BM Chelsea gray could work. Agree with changing the stools and adding a pendant light/s over the island. Add herbs and stems such as eucalyptus to add some life. It's hard to give shopping ideas for accessories as you're in the US but try and add different textures for accessories. Have a look at images of deVOL and Plain English kitchens as they're normally accessoried really well

6 years agoHonestly this might be as good as it will get and I will have to just deal. I love the cabinets all black or white it's gorgeous!!!! But having them painted is $5,000 to 8,000..... vomit. We will only be in the house for four years sooo...... the tile although I hate ...... it my husband loves it. It's really expensive travertine. Can I just say Arizona has horrible taste in decorating.... because I agree with the last several ideas completely!!!! My husband is taking down the cabinet above the cooktop and maybe a couple others? I want a different range hood maybe in black ????? I really dislike the legs on the island as well. I don't know what to replace them with? Or if different molding could b added to the outside? Also revere pewter and repose gray? Which one?
