Need help for curtain color, rug and some designing tips
Comments (1)You have a very difficult room to work with here. For the curtains I would definitely choose something with pattern and a color that will "warm up the space" . I would buy longer panels that would go to atleast the top of the baseboard. I would also add a textured bamboo shade in a warm wood tone behind the curtains. By layering the window treatments you can completely hide the window when you don't want to see it without having to mess with the curtains. If you are going to keep all of the furnishings that you have in the room, I would defintely rearrange them. I would try to wall-mount the TV on the wall where the white sofa is now.You could place it on a hinged bracket which would allow you to swing it out for viewing and then push back out of the way when not in use. If cou cannot wall mount it, I still think that I would relocate it here. I would place the white sofa in front of the window (with it's lovely new blinds and curtains) which would supply a better "backdrop" for it than the white wall which it is now blending into. If you could, it would actually be a good idea to lose the white couch altogether, leave the black sofa where it is, and place a low bench or a pair of ottomans facing the black couch thus creating a conversation group while still being able to see over them when watching TV. I would define the seating group with a plush area rug with plenty of warm color that will compliment your new curtains while warming up the white floors. In fact, since the rug is probably going to be the most expensive item I would pick it out first and let it set the color palette for you....See MoreNeed help for Patio idea!
Comments (3)Work with a landscape designer/architect. Likely, some sort of retained, back filled walls will be necessary to create an area large enough to place a table with chairs & umbrella. If you entertain multiple generations, keep your patio to a single level. I would suggest integrating planting areas within the patio area, to introduce color & eventually partial shade. Designing a pergola into this composition would be a nice addition to. Get the blessings of any governing/HOA body that you need approvals from, which your design professional of choice should be able to facilitate for you. Comments (8)if you lighten the cabinets etc, then the stone will appear more prominent. if that is what you want, that is fine. I sensed that you did not like the current counter. I would contact a marble/granite installer to see if they think that the cracks can be filled and polished out. it is pretty common to do this on new installations if it is feasible. they may try to charge you as as much as you would spend on a fabricating a counter out of a new slab if they did not do the original installation....See MoreNeed help with my kitchen cabinets
Comments (6)Hello there :) Nice design by the way. Perhaps you can: 1. Change the door panels only. Keep the existing shape & the cupboards, the carpenter can 'update' the doors with different handles too (like image above). 2. Spray paint is more $$$ but I think it is longer lasting. 3. Laminated is less $$ but as we all know it chips & eventually the laminate comes out (wear & tear). 4. Unless you want the inside of the cabinet to be changed from existing white to a different colour, then the carpenter have to dismantle everything & redo. So more $$$$ Hope this helps & Happy shopping!...See MoreCarolyn
