Marble are both non-porous thus it would cause etching and corrosion. Besides that, marble are high maintenance materials. Marble requires proper care and maintenance. Acid should never be used on marble as it shall loose its shine. Marble should be regularly polished over a period of time to give it a new look. If proper precautions are not taken the marble becomes yellowish in colour. Italian marble is usually very soft and prone to cracks. Proper resins have to be used to make the surface strong and solid and avoid further cracks. Proper sealants should be used in marble flooring as the marble is highly porous and prone to staining. It absorbs stains very quickly especially kitchen stains hence are not appropriate for kitchen counter tops. In the long run, wooden looking tiles (made of porcelain or ceramic) would be more practical. You can also consider marble looking quartz. You may check out the D & L series of iQuartz range. Just Because: Three photos that have inspired me this weekend

Just thought I'd share these three pictures which I found inspiring and I want for my own home: The first was taken in the Elizabeth Bay House. I just love the colour of the wall, which goes so well with the elegance of the wooden cabinet. Some antiques on top of the cabinet completes the picture. The second is a well-preserved, late 1800s arts-and-crafts era house that is just pleasant in its simplicity and well-kempt-ness. These houses can be found in many suburbs in Sydney, especially in the Mosman, NSW area. ("To be simple is the end, not the beginning of design." — Charles Voysey) The third is the front porch of a house in the Newtown area, which makes use of eclectic art-nouveau era, antique lead-fired tiles in between the steps. These tiles are no longer produced, are very radiant and colourful when seen up close. They have also been used as splash tiles. Most of these were made in England or Belgium, but Japan was also a big producer of these in the late 19th- early 20th century as well. Hope everyone's having an awesome weekend!

Theme to match floor tiles

I think these floor tiles will work with the woody theme you're going for and the furniture you have! Their natural stone design and cashmere colour would complement wooden furniture. I'm not so sure about the grey wall though. It looks drab and paint job patchy. Could add a pop of colour/wallpaper and make it an accent wall if it fits in your design plan.
