Do I need to order a special post for the corner?

Needing to know if I need to order a special post for the corners? Or can I use the one that's already with the kit?

You do not need to purchase a post made for corners. You will attach the bracket with screws to whichever side of the post is needed for your project.

Hello Shelly! All our posts are interchangeable so there is no special "corner" post. You would simply connect the brackets to the side of the post where the panel will connect to. You can connect brackets and panels to any side of the posts.

You can check out the outdoor floor tiles like the Scala (Google Snap and Go tile) which are easy to piece additionally on the ground for a new look. ;) I saw another brand here, http://list.qoo10.sg/item/OUTDOOR-TIMBER-FLOOR-TILE-SINGAPORE-SELLER-100-AUTHENTIC-BEAUTIFUL/482453309 (not sure where this brand is from but they all work the same). They even have faux grass, stones as well as timber. Definitely easy to DIY, and you can combine different surfaces together if you want (stones and wood combo for example).

If the wood is raw, that would mean it has no stain, paint or sealer on it, in which case you would only need to sand the two years worth of use it has. If all dirt, grease, etc isn't off the piece before you whitewash it, this will show in the new finish. Sand it well, don't miss any areas, don't take any shortcuts. Then get some white stain, follow the instructions on the can, and finish with several coats of polyurethane. I find I get the very best results by using Minwax products.

Thanks, lefty47. This is an older home, and just as One Plan guessed it is a soil stack from the upstairs bathroom. You are probably right that the cost of a custom solution may outweigh the benefits. Another idea I had, along the lines of the worktop bin suggested by One Plan, is a recessed spatula and long-handled utensil holder. I found out that Lee Valley sells motorized tv lift kits like the one used in the video above. It would be a matter of getting the contractor to build the box to go on the lift. I'm still a bit hung up on the idea, though it probably falls into your cost-outweighs-benefit category! I may bring this photo around with me when interviewing prospective contractors, just to see how they answer!

Standard residential door heights are 6'-8" and 8'-0". My rule of thumb is to use the 8'-0" doors when you have tall ceilings or to use transoms with 6'-8" doors. Also consider the width. I try to use 3'-0" wide door where possible. Narrow doors look even narrower when they are tall.
