What colour should I paint my ceiling beams?
I know this dilemma has been posed a few times before but I’d really love some advice on what I should do with my mission brown ceiling beams in my living room. Currently they are painted, not stained.
should I paint them ceiling white or some other light colour, or leave them, or paint the a different warmer brown colour.
Or should I go something completely different like make a timber panelled ceiling covering them?
We are about to get laminate timber look floorboards installed soon so the floor might be a touch darker?
Apologies about the mess, bathroom renovations are going on and housekeeping has gone out the window.

I'm just wondering, looking to the upper left in particular, if it's been recently checked out by a structural engineer. As for paint, I'll be interested to see what others say. For me, who doesn't do a lot of white, I think I actually would stay with a white here. Also, what mood do you want to create for your whole house/each room? For instance, yellows are uplifting and cheery while greens are usually restful. Browse online for 'paint colour ideas' and save a collection of photos that appeal to you. You're likely to find great decor ideas at the same time! With that particular part of the house pictured above though, my advice is to make the most of the precious daylight coming through that window (there's just never enough sunlight in my flat!
