Thanks for your question. The glass roof is drained away from the building and then is 'stepped' over the vertical glass sides. The glass roof drains water onto the patio and the water is drained there.

If you wanted to include a true 'drainage' gutter you could angle the glass roof back towards the building and use a structural gutter. We use these very often to create a minimal design. Mirrors to make it dissapear. Red paint to make it a feature. With a television or a screen so you have too smaller rooms. With a low surrond table/benches so that it is a centrepiece. With a same-strength steel coumn that is just as strong. Replace it with a beam from one side to the other so that it is no longer structurally required. Run a wall up to it. Or, if someone asks you, "how can you decorate a square pillar or column in the middle of a living room?", you can say "um, it seemed like a good idea at the time, do you think that I shouldn't have?"

Artificial turf! The green (they come in different colours, too, if you'd like to be psychedelic) adds a lively pop of colour to a blah space, and they're designed in easy-to-install tile-style units that have some built-in drainage for minimal maintenance. Absolut Outdoors and Green Turf can tell you more :) And I'd hang an outdoor art piece or a screen for air plants on that blank wall, too, to enliven your balcony.

Your beautiful balcony that you own has a planter box (trench). You could either plant in there and give yourself some privacy from prying eyes or you could install decking to the area and have more space for your furniture layout. Another option is to create a bench but do be aware if you have children or are planning for the future.

A cheap way is to change the laminate of your basin cabinet. Add some photo frames to the wall, or an open shelf to hang plants or put nice decor on.
