Pls help, mosaic doesn't match with wall tiles, how can I salvage this
Comments (13)Hi Rubypumps. Unfortunately you have made the common mistake of mixing undertones. I see this a lot as a colour consultant. Mistakes with your hard finishes are the worst kind because they are very costly to change. Right now your walls have a pink undertone and your walls behind the tub and counter are clearly blue grey. Since blue is complementary to pink, it brings out the pink in the tile even more and the clean blue makes the tile look dirty. It may be hard for you to see this, but this is what's happening and this is probably why you don't like your bathroom. Since you chose such a busy mosaic, it has become the boss (and focal point) of the room and I would now keep your other finishes as simple as possible. If you can, down the road, change the beige tile. Because unfortunately, there is no magic colour combination that will make it disappear. Working with what you have, I would most likely go with a more neutral cabinet like Uniboard G21 Viva Walnut. It will help warm up the space. Black is too stark for this bathroom....See MoreWhere/what plants to get to decorate bedroom?
Comments (7)Money plants are super easy to maintain! I've had mine for the past 7 months since moving in to our new flat and it is growing wildly around its 1.5m pole with minimal care. Cacti don't need much attention as well and make for nice decorative plants especially in toilets where you might not get much sunlight. The air plant in your second picture was actually being sold at my neighbourhood pasar malam and I was very close to getting it (apparently it only needs occasional spraying of water) but it wasn't quite my style and I went for a different plant that I'm still trying to figure out the name of. :)...See MoreTiny Apartment
Comments (9)Hi Amuro Elaine, Are you working with an interior designer to renovate your home? You'll probably be asked a few questions such as: How many people will live here? Is the bedroom wall a structural, load-bearing wall? Do you intend to entertain? But what an interesting space you have, and especially if you are living alone, there's so much potential to transforming it into your own pretty pad! If I were you, I would swap the living space with the bedroom, that means hacking the bedroom wall open, and then erecting a wall from that point where your kitchen wall ends. Have the wall in glass, with sliding glass doors, so that you can open it up when you have guests over. And when you're alone, you'll be able to enjoy the entire length of the apartment from your bed. Here's a photo of the wall idea:Keep us posted on the progress of your renovation, please :)...See MoreBedroom plants, can or cannot
Comments (7)Well, they aren't wrong about plants competing with you for oxygen, but research have definitely shown that there are in fact plants that are recommended to be placed beside your beds for better sleep! Air purifying plants not only absorb odours and moulds that can impact breathing and lung health, they also beautify your place and makes you feel at ease ;) Plants recommended for aiding sleep includes jasmine, lavender, snake plant, aloe vera, spider plant, english ivy, peace lily and golden pothos (money plant, as recommended above). They are also shade-loving plants, thus are most suitable for bedrooms. One of the convenience of having plants in your bedroom, in my opinion, is that they benefit from air-conditioning! I do have marble queen pothos, philodendrons, snake plants and peperomias right beside my bed and I probably only water them once every week (some even lesser than that!). It really shows that you don't necessarily have to water them daily ;)...See MoreJ Petempich
