I need layout recommendation for space living in this tiny apartment.
Here's a few questions:
Should I hack the bedroom wall to create a broader space?
What's your layout recommendation?
Should I put my bed in the living hall?

Hi Amuro Elaine,

Are you working with an interior designer to renovate your home? You'll probably be asked a few questions such as: How many people will live here? Is the bedroom wall a structural, load-bearing wall? Do you intend to entertain?

But what an interesting space you have, and especially if you are living alone, there's so much potential to transforming it into your own pretty pad!

If I were you, I would swap the living space with the bedroom, that means hacking the bedroom wall open, and then erecting a wall from that point where your kitchen wall ends. Have the wall in glass, with sliding glass doors, so that you can open it up when you have guests over. And when you're alone, you'll be able to enjoy the entire length of the apartment from your bed. Here's a photo of the wall idea:

Thanks Chiquit. I will be engaging an ID or contractor. The bedroom wall is not a solid wall so I guess it can be remove. I just find it a pity as the door is brand new. There is a sliding door between bathroom and bedroom.

I will be staying alone. :)

Boy, it sure looks like the refrigerator doors open on the wrong side--can you get the developer to swap it out or change the door swing?--must be a mistake. I would find that really annoying, especially in such a small workspace. I really see a movable island parallel to the cabinets in this space with storage underneath and maybe a hanging pot rack with lights and maybe some shelving above, possibly with some stools for casual dining. Do you have room for something like that? A freestanding stainless metal full- or counter-height shelf on casters adjacent to the sink could be really helpful. You could put some simple white dishpans or bins on it as a temporary holding place for dirty dishes while you are cooking, and use the rest for overflow for big pots or pantry items. The L counter with the curved sink might be a little awkward, but sure beats not having some usable counter space. If that is all you are adding, then perhaps a cart with a shelf that flips up for extra prep or dining space would work for you. I would pay the money to get decent lighting. I think I see a thin range hood over the cooktop. If this is European, there should be wiring and a plug for the range hood, so I wouldn't think it would be too expensive to run some wire for lights Doesn't the range hood already have lights. BTW?

I also always have my windows open- fresh air is a must for me! But I have heard that keeping open containers of baking powder around the kitchen and neutralise PH levels and cut through bad smells..haven't given it a go myself- but may be it is work a try!

Hi, I agree with Gary, do a hotel setting to make it more appealing. Here’s an idea. Remove the partition, move the closet down and add a big slider freeing up the space for a spacious bedroom with lounge seating/dining by the window. Think about the tv wall where it can have a proper work desk space. And do you have balcony? Perfect !

In such a confined space, open concept kitchen does give you the spaciousness. But, do consider how to get rid of your cooking fumes as they can be harmful. Check out on PlasmaMade air filter meant for cooker hoods.

You can consider those fold up to the wall type of bed which means you can have a bigger space for entertaining larger group of friends. Some of them double up as a desk or shelves.

I would keep the wall between your living room and your bedroom. I think in this case it is good to keep it out of eyes of your visitors. However if you decide to turn the wall down its good to think about clever separation. I wouldn't put the bed in the living hall. Would you mind to upload some pictures of your living space? Your flat looks interesting with a lots of potential. I think 3D visualisation could clear up some of your doubts. I could help you with that.

My solution would be move your bedroom to the living room area. Break down the wall of you bedroom so there is more space between the living area and the kitchen.A nice flow. Anne Koh - Interior Architect (USA)

Hi. We have the same dilemma. My unit is maybe smaller than her. It's approximately 29sqm. And I wanted also to make it look bigger. I posted it already under renovation and someone replied to removed the wall. But due to low budget now, most likely, I retain the walls/divider.

Is it ok to put a mirror facing the window? But around afternoon, sunlight will reflect to the mirror.

hi yvette, you can replace the partition into a 2 big wood sliding door, you can keep it open the whole day, then just re orient your bed :)
