Potfiller! We love ours! I'm so surprised every Italian doesn't have one!

Good for small spaces - LAURA: we have two that are half that tall, and one always gets stuck. My sister has one that tall and it ALWAYS gets stuck. I think the more weight they have in them, the more likely they are to get stuck. So better to have a few different ones stacked on top of one another, not one huge long big one.

Like waterfall edge - LAURA: What's a waterfall edge? The island that has marble on the sides, too?

This looks a lot like something that might be a good compromise for you!

I know you don't have a dog, but I wish I had the kick-plate storage!! I think they probably don't know about it, but could figure out a way to do it. (Looks pretty straightforward...)

I like the kick plate storage.

I would like to avoid this sort of thing where you actually see it, but having power strips in the bottom of the pensile may involve it having a much thicker bottom than they're used to.

this one looks recessed, which is the best in my opinion!

Don't get the REALLY high pullouts - they invariably get too heavy and are hard to pull out. Better to do THREE "short" ones over each other rather than one big tall one. (We have TWO big tall ones over each other and the bottom one invariably gets stuck.

Q

I wish we had done both inside the door stuff AND pull-out drawers. It would've been nice to have those things you use on a really regular basis (or that don't do well in drawers, like pot lids) on the inside of the cabinet door...

Q

Photo

We have a lot of double drawers (one big one underneath and then another one, so you just have what looks like one big door on the outside instead of looking like a bunch of drawers with a million pulls.

toe-kick drawers - wish we had done them in our kitchen!!

Q

I think this is fantastic! but not quite sure if it is easy to clean or will get shoved back in there before you have time to clean it, etc...

Figure out where you're going to stash your cleaning utensils, as we have no place for them and have to keep them on the balcony. It's a pain when you have a spill.

You could also develop UP if you have the height and keep things you use less often in the top, with a library ladder.

Q

I'm a little fixated with library ladders at the moment because we're building a library... :-)

I love our skinny pull-outs but the top level is not deep enough - we always end up putting the olive oil on the bottom level because it's too tall to fit in the top part. Measure some olive oil bottles and see if they'll fit in the top part. Since most Italian families cook with it and use it every day, make sure it'll fit in the TOP of these skinny drawers - they are FABULOUS on the sides under the cooktop.

I love how this just melds all the way up to the crown moulding! We couldn't do that because we had visible vaults all over the place.

Just a note about fridges - Make sure the capacity actually has space for stuff. Ours has a lot of capacity on paper, but the back of each shelf is so far from the back wall to give air circulation that in essence we have tiny shelves in there or everything falls back behind. ugh. hate it. AND we should've gotten a separate freezer and just had both sides of the fridge be FRIDGE!

It might be nice to do white on the "kitchen" part of your room, and then do wood on the storage piece you have on the other side of the door.

I like the aesthetic of the doors (ante) on the cabinets and the little station as you come through the door on the left where you could have people put phones in that drawer, etc.. and have your recharging station. Then have the fridge there, and the back wall would have to be a bit different since there is not more room in that back corner. (And the island more in the middle of the room. It's crowding the cooktop. You're going to need passage space for two people in front of the ovens, cooktops and fridge if you don't want to kill someone! :-)
