This are the appliances that I've chosen, so this is basically what it would look like to move the ovens over next to the refrigerator. (if we lower the ovens to the floor and add the microwave on top, will it offset the "balance"?)

Looking at tons of pictures of "two tiered islands", the most common is canned lights with pendant lighting over the island.

The more I look at these, I fear that the small upper cabinets look too busy. I think the taller cabinets have a cleaner look.

Ceiling height cabinets. Trying to decide if I like the small extra cabinet or if I prefer the look where it's a single cabinet to the ceiling. I'm pinning a few different ones to decide.

This kitchen seems similar in shape (although flipped). The fridge looks good here. And the island is curved.

I think this is really close to what we're talking about. The island is exactly like mine and they curved out the middle section.

Here's another example where the bar height counter is slightly indented. I think I like it.

It could be interesting to have the bar height of the island a little set-off (indented) from the counter. It could offer some character.

I'm not sure this would work at my entry, but I really like how it offers a place for the mail and keys without those things going onto the island, etc.
