I think we like same counter on L and island but different color cabinets, like this. SY: Yes, agree. I like there to be one unifying element, like the countertop. DS: I also like the two different color cabinets.

Layout SY: In terms of materials, we have three options that I could get behind (and that are very consistent with your bathrooms and laundry). 1) all white with gray tops. 2) white perimeter with light gray island and matching marbled tops. 3) white perimeter uppers, dark gray perimeter lowers, dark gray island base, matching marbled tops. I like all these. Which do you, together, prefer? #3 (represented above) seems more high contrast ala DS. #1 and #2 seem more BS, but if you do a graphic white backsplash like above, instead of marble herringbone for example, it could lean back toward DS a bit. :)
