The one level large island top gives plenty of working space. Many kitchens these days favor a steam / convection oven rather than a microwave. Placement is important. Putting it in an appliance tower close to the range, but at counter level is ideal. It is at about the same level as the range. Not too short and not too tall - which is just right with safety in mind for hot items.
