Having been neglected for nearly 50 years, this home was rescued by new owners who sought to restore the home to its original grandeur. Prominently located on the rocky shoreline, its presence welcomes all who enter into Marblehead from the Boston area. The exterior respects tradition; the interior combines tradition with a sparse respect for proportion, scale and unadorned beauty of space and light.

Warm and inviting contemporary great room in The Ridges. The large wall panels of walnut accent the automated art that covers the TV when not in use. The floors are beautiful French Oak that have been faux finished and waxed for a very natural look. There are two stunning round custom stainless pendants with custom linen shades. The round cocktail table has a beautiful book matched top in Macassar ebony. A large cable wool shag rug makes a great room divider in this very grand room. The backdrop is a concrete fireplace with two leather reading chairs and ottoman. Timeless sophistication!

The Curved House is a modern residence with distinctive lines. Conceived in plan as a U-shaped form, this residence features a courtyard that allows for a private retreat to an outdoor pool and a custom fire pit. The master wing flanks one side of this central space while the living spaces, a pool cabana, and a view to an adjacent creek form the remainder of the perimeter.
A signature masonry wall gently curves in two places signifying both the primary entrance and the western wall of the pool cabana. An eclectic and vibrant material palette of brick, Spanish roof tile, Ipe, Western Red Cedar, and various interior finish tiles add to the dramatic expanse of the residence. The client’s interest in suitability is manifested in numerous locations, which include a photovoltaic array on the cabana roof, a geothermal system, radiant floor heating, and a design which provides natural daylighting and views in every room. The sectional sofa takes center stage in this open living space. The designer created a comfortable, fun and eclectic seating area giving ample space to gather with friends and family.
A startling accent over arches the sofa. The silver arc lamp introduces another architectural dimension into the space, accentuating the grandeur of the space.
Concealed within the continuity of the dining room, the office space showcases an opaque glass desk and white leather office chair.

Once the traditional layers of the space were removed the new millwork made the space sing. The focal element of the living room, a clean lined floor to ceiling Macassar ebony wood fireplace was added with a honed limestone mantle anchored the new space.

The glow of the lantern-like foyer sets the tone for this urban contemporary home. This open floor plan invites entertaining on the main floor, with only ceiling transitions defining the living, dining, kitchen, and breakfast rooms. With viewable outdoor living and pool, extensive use of glass makes it seamless from inside to out.
