Set upon an oversized and highly sought-after creekside lot in Brentwood, this two story home and full guest home exude a casual, contemporary farmhouse style and vibe. The main residence boasts 5 bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, each ensuite with thoughtful touches that accentuate the home’s overall classic finishes. The master retreat opens to a large balcony overlooking the yard accented by mature bamboo and palms. Other features of the main house include European white oak floors, recessed lighting, built in speaker system, attached 2-car garage and a laundry room with 2 sets of state-of-the-art Samsung washers and dryers. The bedroom suite on the first floor enjoys its own entrance, making it ideal for guests. The open concept kitchen features Calacatta marble countertops, Wolf appliances, wine storage, dual sinks and dishwashers and a walk-in butler’s pantry. The loggia is accessed via La Cantina bi-fold doors that fully open for year-round alfresco dining on the terrace, complete with an outdoor fireplace. The wonderfully imagined yard contains a sparkling pool and spa and a crisp green lawn and lovely deck and patio areas. Step down further to find the detached guest home, which was recognized with a Decade Honor Award by the Los Angeles Chapter of the AIA in 2006, and, in fact, was a frequent haunt of Frank Gehry who inspired its cubist design. The guest house has a bedroom and bathroom, living area, a newly updated kitchen and is surrounded by lush landscaping that maximizes its creekside setting, creating a truly serene oasis.

Oak hardwoods were laced into the existing floors, butcher block countertops contrast against the painted shaker cabinets, matte brass fixtures add sophistication, while the custom subway tile range hood and feature wall with floating shelves pop against the dark wall. The best feature? A dishwasher. After all these years as a couple, this is the first time the two have a dishwasher. The new space makes the home feel twice as big and utilizes classic choices as the backdrop to their unique style. Photo by: Vern Uyetake

This remodel was designed to celebrate the original use of the structure, focusing on a 1930’s automobile theme. The design features ample storage without overbearing wall cabinets and also, vintage looking appliances. The homeowner wanted to remove the soffit and rework the supply and return air to better balance the temperature in the space. To do so, the entire space was reinsulated with closed cell insulation to provide the best insulation for our cold winters and hot summers. The homeowner opted for a custom artisan hood paired with metal open shelves to tie into the industrial era of the original space from the 1930s. The Matte Black with Bronze accents paired with vintage hardware on the range also picks up on the details of the Classic cars once parked in this coach house. The silkscreen marble tiles appear to be wallpaper yet is both heat resistant and effective for these aspiring chefs The enlarged island now can seat four and houses a larger sink with trash bins that open with a tap of the knee. As per the client’s request, the refrigerator now blends into the cabinetry appearing more like the tall cabinets on the south wall than an appliance. The new kitchen is not only stunning but practical as it has double the storage or the old kitchen without lining the room with cabinetry.

It was a privilege to work with the homeowner of this Georgian farmhouse in Hampshire and give this beautiful family home a kitchen it really deserved. The expertly crafted Nickleby cabinetry which has symmetry, simplicity, proportion and restraint at its heart, together with the antique brass accents throughout, really reflect the heritage of this wonderful Georgian home. As with all our projects, it’s always about the look and the feel of the space and when you walk through the hallway into the kitchen your attention is drawn across the island towards the main cooking area. Located in the heart of DUMBO Brooklyn at a former industrial site, this historic building was converted into luxury loft condominiums in 2000. The owners of this 2,500 square foot loft wanted a clean, and uncomplicated space which would showcase the incredible views to the west of Manhattan, and the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. By utilizing a bright palette of white lacquered cabinets, Danby marble countertops, custom painted built-in millwork, and contrasting refinished original dark oak factory floors, we were able to achieve a truly special residential Brooklyn backdrop. A new open contemporary kitchen, entry and master closets, custom lighting and hardware were all part of the loft renovation and interior design.
