The home is a 1950's ranch and now has a complete flow from each room. The client requested an English feel in the living room, i re-upholstered existing pieces as well as custom drapes. The foot stools were upholstered in a square quadrant style, a challenge to my upholsterer as they were rectangular! The needlepoint pillows and art work give a relaxed feel with the furnishings chosen. The lamps are original to the client and to balance their size a large ornate mirror was chosen sitting on top of a new media console. I used a strie wallpaper and a color on the ceiling, i added architectural detailing to the existing base board giving it a stronger scale also adding crown molding with my signature extra piece. The bedroom was next and the client wanted a fresh feel to the room. I added a small chandelier and wall sconses, enough lighting for this room. The custom drapes are embroidered and have a rich look with just the 2 colors. The bedhead is custom sitting on a darker paint color than the other 2 walls, again i used a color on the ceiling. The maple kitchen was existing and i pulled the electrics from the back wall, using a trim on the bottom of the upper cabinets allowed me to put the receptacles up there and put in under cabinet lighting. We used molten glass wall tiles which have a reflective metallic look through the glass, new counters and window treatment give this old kitchen a new look. The dining area adjacent to the kitchen had a metallic foil ceiling paper which we decided to keep, i used a heavy architectural crown made up from several pieces. We have a custom piece of cabinetry that pops in color. The dining table was painted a light lime green and the seats were upholstered in a red raspberry. The home office was once a guest bedroom, so a square room with a closet. The client wanted a fireplace as there was no fireplace anywhere in the home, we also incorporated custom bookshelves and cabinets, taking advantage of the window i designed a comfy feather seat with a small bronze reading wall sconse. The window seat has a little extra surprise as a small shelve pulls out on both sides for drinks. The original 1950's metal desk gave direction to the room as we had a wood top but red metal base and drawers. We included a lot in this home office, new lighting, custom drapery, rugs, slipcovered chair, window seat and custom bookcases!
