Gone are the days of Star Wars “Bed-In-A-Bag” comforter and sheet sets! Kid’s rooms are becoming just as sophisticated and creative as the adults, yet still offer easy transition from toddlers to teens, adapting as they grow, and interests change. When designing a kid’s room, think outside the box: consider the walls an extension of theme, rather than just focusing on bedding or poster art. For instance: • Corrugated metal awnings and baseball-field-inspired paint can transform a boy’s room into a home-run • An oversized chalkboard-painted wall (framed with simple flat stock trim) is not only cool, but functional for a budding rocket-scientist. • Ready-made, painted shutters, and easy-to-find thatching make a radical bed wall for a surfer- chick • Rock-n-Roll vinyl albums (.50 at a thrift store) create a groovy headboard when painted beneath, and framed out with flat stock
