Apart from council "doing my head in" the stress relief by Io Architecture stepping in and being persistence proved worthwhile and finally gave us our expected and deserving result. “I have had the privilege of working alongside Emily Nair of i.Balter Design on a number of construction projects. Emily’s most valuable qualities are her attention to detail, her meticulousness with her drawings and her calm and efficient approach. She has a warm and respectful manner with clients and is highly approachable. Emily’s ability to cater for the specific needs of her clients is outstanding. She is a great listener and is able to individualise her designs to suit the lifestyles of the people she designs for. She is highly organised and takes the stress away from the challenging and somewhat tedious tasks of obtaining permits and liaising with Council. I have received terrific feedback from many happy clients about Emily’s professionalism. From a builder’s perspective, Emily’s plans are highly detailed and accurate. She is very knowledgeable with her understanding of construction, therefore making required changes to plans easily and quickly. Emily has planned extremely complex designs to difficult existing structures, such as her new extension to a severely dilapidated 1850’s homestead in Ivanhoe East. Her design resulted in a seamless addition to a historical Melbourne home; flawlessly unifying the beauty of yesteryear with the practicalities of today. “I have been working with Anna of Instyle Design for many years and would have no hesitation in recommending her to my clients. She is thoroughly professional while being down to earth and practical. Her wealth of experience and approach to each project results in creative design solutions that really work - as an interior designer I see a lot of architectural plans that just don't allow sufficient space for furniture and joinery but Instyle's designs are always clever and well thought out. I also know she has a fantastic rapport with her clients and many of them have had her design several projects for them over the years. “Timmins & Whyte designed, tendered and managed the building of my family home in North Melbourne ($1,000,000 + project). They're a small, busy architectural firm which to my mind is the only type of firm to deal with when building you're own place. I was away overseas during much of the process so left things in their hands. My architect emailed, texted and rang me pretty much daily with progress updates. She was highly competent, devoid of ego (important for an architect I think) and followed my instructions. The managers regularly suggested ideas to save money and make improvements as you'd expect of a decent firm. I felt they had my best interests at heart, were good with budgets and managed the builders so all I needed to do was move in when the time came. Unlike most reviews of architects, my comments above are unsolicited.”
