“My husband and I live in a beautiful location on the Haw River and wanted to remodel part of our home to take advantage of the views and river access. We entertain frequently and wanted more room in the right places and also good flow from room to room. I am an artist, and my husband enjoys woodworking. We wanted spaces that reinforced our aspirations. We decided to add a den with a wood stove, a screened in porch with cat walk to our large back deck, a new kitchen, an art studio, and a workshop. To keep costs down, we hoped to use significant floor space in a poorly-used two car garage. We had some design ideas for the finished product, but mainly, we knew what we wanted to achieve in the way we live in our house and on our property. She immediately understood what we were after, and she designed spaces that creatively achieved all our criteria. She was very organized in how she handled the developing plans.
