“It has been great working with Architecture Unknown, the final outcome is a fantastic-looking building that will serve as a brillant Scouts HQ and community resource. AU’s Wikihouse design enabled us to keep costs down by using volunteers for some of the assembly work as well as allowing community involvement in the construction.”
Wighton Architects

“After extensive research we appointed Wighton Architects for our renovation and extension of a 4 bed Victorian house. From the very start of the process, Stuart impressed us with his eye for detail and aesthetic consideration. He presented multiple concepts, all of which were well considered and met the needs of our family and 'wish list'. Once we decided on the design, he worked very well with the planning department in Waverley despite being based in Leeds and smoothly gained permission. He played a key role in appointing the building contractor and then as project manager throughout in collaboration with the builder. His approach meant that the timetable was kept on track and any issues with the building firm swiftly and amicably resolved. He brought the project in on budget which was impressive given the scale of work. I have no hesitation in recommending Stuart and Wighton Architects.”

“O-RU designed and renovated a period property for us. They had fantastic ideas from the outset, we chose them for their minimal, natural aesthetic and thats how our project turned out. Would highly recommend as they took all the stress out of building our dream home.”

“We wanted a split level extension to our house, to be built on sloping ground. we had drawn a rough idea on the back of an envelope and John turned that into a fully formed official plan. We would fully recommend John to anyone. He was extremely helpful and explained things very clearly so that we understood the process. He turned up when he said he would, and submitted all documents on time. When we asked for a change to a plan he complied fully. We found ourselves a builder who followed his plans to the letter. Our work is now completed and we are absolutely delighted with it.”

“We undertook a massive extension and renovation project of a 1911 arts and crafts house. We were keen to incorporate eco-design elements and we were referred to Chris Rogers and GTA by our environmental consultant. From our first meeting to completion of the project Chris went above and beyond. Always coming up with good ideas that fitted our specifications. Always quick to suggest sensible solutions to problems as they arose. Always available and an invaluable point of contact between us and the contractors on site. He took us through design and planning permission, tendering, refining the scope of the works and finalising the contract with the main contractor, the build itself, snagging...everything! Our build was between July 2016 and April 2017 and I don't think we would have managed it without Chris on the team. We have no hesitation at all in recommending Chris for projects big and small (and in fact have already recommended him to friends embarking on their own projects).”

“I contacted Jane when we wanted to extend our house to add a new room and replace an existing (but dilapidated) utility room. Jane offered a knowledgeable and insightful perspective on the project, and suggested we converted our garage rather than extend, as it could save us money. This we did. From the start of the project, Jane provided a professional and practical service, allowing us to choose from a 'shopping basket' of services she could provide for us. We chose for Jane to provide a light-touch project management role, which involved drawing and submitting the plans, dealing with building control, structural engineer, and quantity surveyor, dealing with the tenders for the job and dealing with the builders during the build. This worked out really well for us, it being our first project and having busy day-jobs. We were kept informed at each step, and consulted when appropriate. Jane had to contend with an unusually shaped roof, which was replaced, raised and extended, together with sound-proofing designed into the construction. She also managed to make clever use of the space to include not only the required downstairs loo, but a shower room, which together with the new music room has effectively created a 'guest wing'. We are very pleased with the result - the new brickwork and roof sit alongside the existing house as though part of the original build, thanks to Jane's attention to detail”

“Ian has been working on my behalf for over 12 months designing and managing the construction of my personal residence. In addition to the house the works included underpinning, retaining walls, and landscaping. He is a creative Architect and very pragmatic; he initially provided me with a number of design options that suited my budget. He assisted me from the beginning of his appointment with advice on contractual matters and dealings with the Planning and Control officers. Ian clearly has had extensive experience as a professional; his technical knowledge is very sound, he communicates well and and has an excellent eye for detail when supervising the builders. His speciality in "Green Construction" gave me a series of options on sustainable construction products and techniques and Ian provided me with valuable references and links to further information. I have been extremely pleased with Ian's performance in every way. Andrew Richardson Didsbury, Manchester”
