“Susan Bower did an outstanding job as the architect for the remodel of our condo at Lindell Terrace in the Central West End of St. Louis, MO. We purchased our condo for many reasons but one of the principal attractions was that this particular building allowed us to easily take down walls to open up the space and redo the layout to our liking. Susan was instrumental in helping design the perfect home for us. She started by trying to understand our vision and then offered alternative designs that took our initial thoughts and translated them into the clean, modern, practical, beautiful and elegant look we wanted. The use of lighting, something we had not focused on, was a creative way to enhance the space and give it a perfect atmosphere. Also, her vision on how to use all the space (where to put doors and where to move walls) was simply the best use of the space to achieve our goals. Besides her talents as an architect and designer, Susan demonstrated professionalism, competence and an ability to relate to people. Her communication skills and construction knowledge were evident when she was asked to help find solutions to construction related issues. She has been a pleasure to work with in all facets of the project and we highly recommend her for her design skills, her people skills and most of all her ability to take our vision and implement it adding her own spin to make it the perfect home. “I've been a deck builder, home modeller, contractor, etc for over 30 years (John Oliver Custom Decks). I know Eric both professionally and personally for about 17 of those years. Eric is great to work with as he is always accessible to answer questions while I'm working for one of his clients or one of my own. He's both reasonable in his approach to any job site and represent the needs of both the property owner and contractor in a manner that makes sense to me where the job can proceed without delays. I would say his logical disposition and expertise in his field separates Eric from many other architects and planners that I have worked for.”

“Phillip Durham is truly a pioneer in architectural design. He has built his firm around the principle of exceeding client expectations throughout the design process. In addition to Phillip's array of credentials and expertise, his firm is power-packed with a professional team of designers whose vision and approach to modern/contemporary design is simply unparalleled in the industry. I would HIGHLY recommend Studio Durham as an elite architectural design firm to take on any design or renovation project. -Josh Gidcumb Broker/Owner/REALTOR/Developer CU REALTY GROUP, LLC Keller Williams Realty 2441 Village Green Place Champaign,IL 61822 josh@curealtygroupllc.com c-(217)202-0517”

“Finally, I can sleep in darkness! I could not be more pleased with the Hunter Douglas Skylift Skylight Shades we just had installed in our bedroom by Eye on Design in Belleville. Quite simply, they do much more than block sunlight—they change the entire ambiance of the room. Rather than simply blocking the skylights, these battery-operated shades seem to make them disappear, giving the appearance and feel of a true ceiling, rather than two bright and chilly recessed spaces. The battery-operated blackout shades block the morning sun, and I can finally get those early morning hours of sleep I was craving. Later in the day, when I want the room to be filled with bright daylight, I simply press a button on the remote control, and the shades slide back, revealing the skylights either partially or fully—much like the sunroof of a car. I feel like I’m on the Starship Enterprise watching these two separate shades slide back smoothly in unison. I am SO happy that I didn’t go the less expensive route and choose pole-operated shades that would have required daily fussy and fumbling with a long stick. What a letdown those would be compared to these super-fun, super-gadgety Skylift blinds. I can’t wait to show them to all my friends. And then install them in my kitchen, too. The enter process, from initial inquiry to final installation, was seamless and pleasant. Remote-controlled skylight shades seem to be a product that is still somewhat obscure, and I called all kinds of companies and chased many dead ends before finding this solution. To say I am happy with them is an understatement. Plus, we get $500 Federal Energy Tax Credit—always a bonus. Everyone on the Eye on Design team has been friendly, professional, accommodating and responsive—Jennaver, Shelly, Steve and the whole crew. I am definitely looking forward to the next project. This could become quite addictive!”

“We hired Karl Winkeler at Hurford Architects and had a fantastic experience. Our project with Karl consisted of designing a home for us and creating the plans for the builder, permitting, loan, etc. Karl was on time each time he gave us date. He was accurate in his estimation of how long it would take to do the project. He was informative and guiding when we asked for his honest opinion. He was strong in his expertise and ability, but would move in a different direction if we made it clear we wanted to. I would highly recommend Karl for any home design project.”

“Brendel was awesome to work with for my renovation. We had purchased my childhood home and did a complete gutting and renovation. My mom had chosen high-end custom Wood-Mode kitchen cabinets when the house was built in 1979. The kitchen cabinets were still in awesome condition during our renovation and I wanted to keep them while also updating the kitchen. Given their experience with architecture, Brendel did an awesome job with configuring the new layout for the kitchen. They also did an awesome job with designing a new layout for the master bathroom. We could not be any happier with our layouts and cabinets that we purchased from them. I highly recommend Brendel for any new construction but especially a renovation.”

“We just completed a kitchen renovation designed by Julie. She walks into a space and immediately sees what the needs for change are. She encouraged us to remove a wall. I was a little dubious, but it turned out to be the best part of the project, opening the space to allow more light and easier movement throughout the new kitchen. The cabinetry works well for storage and ease of use. She has great ideas for the finer points also, the lighting, the cabinet handles, etc. It was our third project with her.”
