Several years later we Jodi worked with us on a total redo of our master bed, bath, and closet. We have also seen some of Jodi's projects and are amazed at how unique each one is. Jodi spent time with us to get to know our "style" and worked closely with us during the project. I especially appreciate the way that she distills our wish-list to several options to choose from in both designs and finishes. We have learned to trust her vision. One example of this is the Ingo Maurer "schilitz" light hanging over our dining table. We weren't totally sold on it at first but it is now one of our favorite pieces. Jodi was with us every step of the way and the vendors and craftsmen she works with are wonderful.”

“Alethea is amazing! She was an integral part of the team when we remodeled our entire basement, renovated our kitchen and added a large porch in the front of our home. She was the key person to help select all of the interior selections and after the work was completed, assisted in the interior furnishings as well. We did a second project with her as well. We added a laundry room that is the envy of my neighborhood. She designed and drew up all of the plans and worked well with all of the subs. Many friends have seen her work in my home and have hired her as well- both to help in structural changes as well as interior work. They all have been happy. I cannot recommend her highly enough. “Our project, which took approximately 3 1/2 months from start to completion, included both a kitchen and basement remodel. Anchor Builders recommended that we use Fluidesign for our design work. Fluidesign did the layout and consulted with us on all phases of the project. They were available and helpful at every phase of construction. In addition to producing an excellent floor plan, they assisted with major and minor decisions including selection of appliances, cabinets, lighting fixtures, carpeting, paint colors, etc. All the options available would have been very overwhelming without their help. “Spring of 2014 my husband and I started planning our lake home. We had never built a home before and were tackling a cottage style custom home. After 8 weeks of pulling my hair out with terms I didn’t understand, countless hours researching on the internet, my lack of confidence in my ability to convey “charming” and “quaint” regarding the finished home would look, I was at the end of my rope. Marla Waseka, Graceful Spaces, was recommended to us by a friend and when we met her we connected immediately. It started with a simple, “so you are looking for a story and a half” cottage—and we were off and running. Marla is very knowledgeable, creative and resourceful. It was clear that the bulk of the decision making would be on my shoulders. With that said, my whole attitude about planning and building has changed and it now building the lake home that we are proud of is becoming a reality. 1. Her gentle guidance on design options and design alternatives has been so beneficial to our success. 3.When my eyes have glazed over and start to roll to the back of my head, Marla took over with the decisions—and this happened frequently! She understands what we want and can step in to make sure we get it. 4.Marla guided us on areas to save and where to splurge. In addition, she hunted down materials for our cost saving. She found us a reclaimed door that is half the cost of our budget and so unique and perfect for our space. And by the way, she’s always kept our budget at the forefront of our discussions. 5.In addition to all these other accolades, Marla has worked exceptionally well with our builder and subcontractors. Our lake home is not completed but we are so excited with each new stage of development. We highly recommend Marla Waseka of Graceful Spaces and will be using her again in the future!”

“I want to start by saying that not only would I use SKD architects again, I would ONLY use them. I tore down and replaced the home I'd lived in for twenty years. Steve Kleineman and I began with a discussion where I described my thoughts for my new home. He came up with a drawing which was close. One meeting later he had designed exactly what I wanted. Steve included the level of detail I desired, and, designed several pieces of furniture for specific spots, each on it's own, a masterpiece. My home is custom, inside and out. You will not see this home anywhere else. He designs for the person. Additionally, there is nothing trendy about his designs. I doubt that fifty years from now anybody will be able to say that this home is "typical" of homes built in the early 2000s. Outside, Steve carried out details from the inside making his plan cohesive and beautiful. He was careful in his design not to hurt existing old trees and was not only respectful of my existing lot, he made the very most of it. I had no idea for the entire first twenty years that I lived in my home that my lot could have the beauty it does today. When building began, Steve worked closely with the builder to insure that my vision was carried out meticulously. It felt as though he was working on his own home, that's how involved and accessible he was. Because of it, my home is perfect. He listened closely to my needs and was easy to get along with. When I made changes, he kept the up-charges to a minimum, in some cases actually reducing the price. Construction on my 5,000 square foot home took less than one year from the day they tore down the old house (not as emotional as I'd have thought to see it go) until moving in to my new warm lovely home; slightly under 11 months to be exact. I have seen larger homes, but never any done with any better attention to detail. It is perfect. Feel free to call if you need additional information about this build, but know that I felt it was as easy and enjoyable as it could possibly have been. The only thing I enjoy more is living here.”
