“Five plus stars all the way around for Justin and Greg. We had an A+ experience, and while we are not planning to build another new home for a very long time, if we did, we would absolutely do it all over again with them. Having worked with two general contractors in the past, we knew what style worked best for us and what was important in our decision making process. We live in Burlingame, and were referred to Justin by our friends who worked with Justin for their remodel a few blocks away and had a wonderful experience. Why J Sullivan was excellent: - Quality. We wanted to not just build a structure but build a home that was very high quality. We had some somewhat unusual requests that they gracefully and efficiently helped us work through, and recommended various specialists. Examples included working with an acoustic engineer on sound deadening, engaging an outside lighting designer, and working with us on air quality with an HRV system given our concerns about wildfire. - Creative. As is natural in projects, there were times during construction, once things started to come together, when they saw an opportunity to improve the original design on paper and offered fantastic suggestions to make it even better. For example, they wanted us to make sure we were happy with the spacing and flow between the kitchen and dining room so they built plywood mock-ups of the island and dining room table down to the inch. - Our project started demo in November, 2019. Then, mid way through the project, covid hit. We watched Justin and his project manager, Greg, expertly and calmly navigate a slew of subs through very stressful situations from calendaring to materials procurement and more. Justin and Greg have done over 20 projects together and this deep experience proved invaluable. - Communication. Throughout most of the project, we had weekly on site meetings and walk throughs with Justin and Greg. They summarized each meeting and sent notes to us, our architect, and interior designer, so we were all on the same page. They were also proactive in working with our neighbors which we greatly appreciated and helped them feel comfortable around noise, the adjusting fence for the property boundary, and other things, and were also fantastic in working with the city inspectors. Each of their subs had a great deal of respect for them too. - Detail oriented. Justin and Greg care about every single little detail. When they noticed things that weren't up to their quality and expectations they'd ask their vendor to return to make sure it was right. - Knowledgable. Every curious question we asked, they always had the answer, and if they weren't sure, they knew how to find the right answer. - They are just great guys you'd want to hang out with. If you choose to work with J Sullivan, they will care about you and your project like it was their own.”
