“Shailu provided a full house update of Interior blinds (Hunter Douglas) that exceeded $12K. This included fabric choice and blind style to accommodate not only the rooms but the window framing. The job proved fairly complicated given the interior placement of the windows. We were very satisfied with the service and results. we would highly recommend her to others.”

“Emmy was contracted to design the Youth Playroom at our shelter. In creating the plan; she was intentional about understanding the function of the space as well as our vision for it. When we were unclear about our vision; she worked to give suggestions of directions we could go in. She worked within our budget to find pieces that were functional yet aesthetically pleasing. Throughout the entire process, Emmy was professional and communicated consistently to ensure we were satisfied with her services.”

“Last year we bought a house that needed to be completely remodeled. This was the first time we were going to completely gut a house and pick out all the new material to be used. We were excited, but also scared to make such expensive decisions on our own. We asked Aundra to first help us pick out the right flooring, tile and paint for our house and WOW am I glad we did. She had such clear advice that left us feeling confident about our choices. After we finished the remodel, we brought her in again to help us decorate our large cold space. Not only did she have great ideas, she also worked well within our budget. I am so happy with the results and would recommend her to anyone.”

“Lindsey helped us think out of the box with our gut remodel of our second story. After living in our home for 10+ years, we had become stuck in what we thought should happen with our remodel. Lindsey realized our vision, but then came through with her vision, which was something we had never thought about, and what we ended up choosing. We are so happy with our new design. Lindsey was very responsive with changes required by the city, and we were able to complete our project in a timely manner. Thanks Hem Collective!”

“"I have been excited and happily challenged to build what Stephanie has designed in the last year. The North Portland Accessory Dwelling Unit is less than 400 square feet and has two stories! In its minimal footprint, the building contains all the modern spaces and amenities, including a Bedroom, Full Bath, Laundry Room, Kitchenette, and built-in sofa that doubles as a dinette and converts to a queen sized bed for additional sleeping area; what may sound crowded in actuality feels open and cozy with ample natural light. It is refreshing to work with someone who appreciates historic architecture and respects its context when designing an adjacent building. She at once sees the big picture and the details; every design decision is related back to the whole, and she has a clear vision for how each selected material will be installed. In addition to being professional, organized, skilled, available, and prompt with decisions, Stephanie is kind and easy to work with. She provides descriptive and thorough drawings, yet can quickly sketch a detail on a raw 2x8 with a carpenters pencil when the inevitable construction questions arise. Stephanie is a thoughtful designer I look forward to working with in the future.” - Sean Harding, Owner at Harding Construction”

“hired Janet for approximately one year after she was referred to me by my realtor when I purchased a new residence in Santa Monica . I retained Janet as a designer and project manager for a complete remodel of a 2-bedroom condominium. The first thing that impressed me about Janet was her professionalism. She was always prepared, organized and presented several options when discussing a key decision point or project management issue. Her experience and business maturity helped to navigate through an arduous permitting process with the City of Santa Monica . Further, she anticipated questions and/or obstacles and presented recommendations to best deal with a given situation. In nearly every case, I simply followed her recommendation as it had clearly been carefully considered; I grew to trust her judgment completely. In addition to her professional demeanor, Janet possesses a creative eye that she effortlessly matches with the tastes and preferences of her client. Design decisions quickly became “rubber stamp” processes for me as her client – her selections were almost always synchronized with my own style. When our opinions differed, Janet was always the consummate professional and offered pros, cons or demurred as appropriate. As I mentioned earlier, I grew to trust Janet – not only as a design consultant, but also as a business professional and human being. As an example, in an instance where a contractor legitimately misinterpreted the intent of some instructions, Janet stepped in and personally covered the extra expense. She holds a high standard of integrity, and can always be trusted to do the right thing.”

“I have employed Vicki Simon's interior design talents twice--once with a small Victorian house that she rehabilitated with care and then, after I downsized, in an apartment that she turned into a stunning display for my art collection. When I moved into a plainer-than-vanilla apartment in Portland’s Pearl district, I asked Vicki's help in warming it up and making it my own. She turned it into a stunning setting for my large art collection. I collect German expressionist prints and contemporary works on paper and Vicki helped me edit and place key pieces in a way that highlighted them dramatically. Additionally, she suggested furniture (Cassina sofa, ebony console) and designed a custom rug in deep, rich tones that made the apartment feel like a collector’s salon, as opposed to the bland stopping place for twentysomethings that the complex really was. It was all achieved through the magic of a trained designer’s eye and her knowledge of the possibilities of color, texture, and contrast. She also had sources for exquisite one-of-a-kind items from all over the world— a handmade blanket, a hexagonal bowl—that added the little touches so important to pulling together an entire look with a real aesthetic. The end result was a living space that expressed my likes and wants and highlighted the items and pieces I feel most attached to. Earlier with the small Victorian house, Vicki displayed her fabulous sense of how to unearth the possibilities of a home, especially when it has been muddled by renovations and cheap materials. I would recommend her to anyone wanting to express the good bones of their house and have it come across as their own. From recycled hardware to salvaged Victorian trim to new doorway dimensions, her discoveries and options really added up to something more than just the cool little parts.”
