“I asked Paola to provide a design for remodeling my bathroom with the goal of replacing the tub with a shower. My only request was that she retain my Mexican hand-painted ceramic sink. As the room is only 5 X 7, she had quite a challenge to update the room, giving an impression of more space, on a very small budget. Her design was perfect. All the materials to be used were low cost but did not look low cost. The finished product was well within my budget and looks great. I get many very positive reactions from family and friends. It is very impressive.”

“Nancy and Bethany did a superb job redesigning The Yoga Connection! It is absolutely beautiful! They listened to my vision and successfully created exactly what I dreamed it could and should be. These 2 women are very professional by providing design boards with ideas of the furniture, colors, etc. and alternative looks. They also completed it in a very timely fashion from the drawing to the finished look!”

“Maria is hands-down the best interior designer I've ever worked with! She is so passionate about interior design, and it shows in her approach. Maria helped us redecorate most of our house -- dining room; kitchen; master bedroom; 2 home offices, foyer, family room and patio. Our total house makeover required an interior design who was willing to get to know us, and guide us to achieve the result we wanted. Maria fit the bill perfectly. She worked with us on all design elements to create a home that reflects our lifestyle, including furniture, lighting, rugs, artwork, decorative items and more. She is detail-oriented, collaborative, easy to work with, and enthusiastic. She offered fresh ideas and approaches that really enhanced our home. She really went above & beyond in her efforts. “My wife and I just completed a project with interior designer, Andrea Houck, president of A. Houck Designs. We were very happy with the end result of our living room, dining room, foyer, and kitchen breakfast nook. This was the first time that we had used an interior designer and Andrea was able to easily answer all of our questions and guide us through the entire process from design concept through installation. After initially speaking with us and finding out what we did and didn’t like, she was able to help us define our style and presented us with a number of different options for each room that we were able to refine and choose from. She also helped us to pick a unique color palette that coordinated from room to room and, importantly, easily fit with the rest of our existing home. We ended our project on a positive note with Andrea and we would recommend A. Houck Designs to anyone. Jason – Arlington, VA”

“Design for change worked with our non- profit on a pro-bono basis. We are a domestic violence organization that was trying to outfit 30 apartment units on a shoestring. Kathleen was so knowledgeable about how to make spaces inviting and comfortable for our clients. Her social work background was such an asset. She was also able to create beautiful spaces with donated and inexpensive items!!! She can make anything look gorgeous I only wish we had a bigger budget. She outfitted 30 units quickly, efficiently and consistently between units. I was amazed and very thankful. We expanded to an additional building 10 months later and she was up to the task! That is a whopping 49 units! She is compassionate, professional and not afraid to roll up her sleeves. Highly recommended! Natalia”

“I recently downsized from a 3476 square foot to a 1598 square foot townhouse. Much of the furniture that I had was too big for the smaller house. The new house is not really new so it needed a lot of help. Under Julie's direction, walls and ceilings were painted first which made a big difference. She kept budget in mind by keeping several pieces of furniture that I already had and updating others. For my dining room set, she recovered the seat cushions with fabric to go with the new paint colors and added a bench to one side to allow more walking room. She kept a book with all the ideas and plans for my place which was so helpful. She spent a lot of time to go over ideas with me and kept looking until she found what worked. Her contractors and vendors are all wonderful - she is very particular in that regard. I love the pieces she chose for my house and the overall design. She has completely changed the look of my house. It finally feels like home. There are so many rooms to show that I need to upload some before and after pictures soon so you can see for yourself what an amazing job she did for me. I strongly suggest stopping by her store in Ashburn, VA. It's a treat just to walk around all the rooms and check out the furnishings and accessories. Plus you can meet Julie and her staff while you're there. You will love it!”
