“We are thrilled with our new kitchen and simply could not have done it without Liz. The layout she designed gave us more storage and counter space while also making the kitchen seem bigger than it was before. She listened carefully to what we wanted and gave us two different layouts to choose from (one that was what I originally thought I wanted and another one that she came up with - we went with her layout and are so glad we did, it’s so much better!). When last minute decisions came up during the remodel she got back to us quickly and helped us make the right decision. We are so glad we didn’t try to do it on our own with just the contractor. Without Liz’s ideas and help we simply would not have this beautiful kitchen.”

“Our situation was that we had no vision how to give our living room and dining room areas a much-needed facelift, except wanting a transitional style blending traditional and modern tastes. We contacted Sarah because Sarah designed a friend’s living room, and we liked the finished product. Sarah was able to transform our shallow living space into an airy, bright, open area that looks fresh, impressive, and welcoming. There is a tasteful combination of color and styles giving the space the interesting design we wanted. Sarah was always accessible to our phone calls and text messages, and project managed the contractors to ensure all details were done correctly. She provided several layout options in CAD for us to choose from, and worked with her vendors for material and furnishing proposals and ordering. We are pleasantly surprised, and somewhat amused that our post-war home looks so sleek and expansive. We definitely recommend Sarah as an interior designer. We are pleased with the outcome of her work, and the professional manner she performed her services, all accomplished without breaking the bank.”

“Austin Gray was an exceptional experience. The project involved organzing and executing a moving into your new home, incl space planning & interior decorating. The care and attention extended beyond moving articles from location to location. Years of collecting left me with vaults in a storage facility. Austin Gray worked with me to determine items to be moved to the new home, items to be sold and items to be donated. They also managed the transfer And tracking of these items to the appropriate location. All of this was done not just professionally but with care and attention. I also needed complete decorating support as I had neither the inclination nor the time to select items for the new home. All of this was handled with utmost attention to detail and a true commitment to customer service. This firm is exceptional.”

“Sarah Zames, of General Assembly, helped me gut renovate my studio apartment in Brooklyn Heights. From the start,Sarah was professional but also a great deal of fun to deal with.She struck the perfect balance between letting me direct exactly where I wanted the design to go, but also coming up with great ideas, and steering me in the right direction when I felt overwhelmed . The renovation involved taking down a small wall , and designing a huge kitchen island that also contained tons of storage, including a bookshelf for cooking books, and a wine rack. Sarah also designed a huge double closet,and a recessed area for the bed, to help distinguish the bedroom part of the studio, from the main living space and kitchen. She also re-stained my wood floors,and worked with myself and a cabinet maker, to build the perfect kitchen cabinets from scratch. In the middle of the renovation, we discovered that the wiring in the apartment had not been touched since the 1940's.Sarah was amazing about breaking the bad news to me,reassuring me that we could fix things on budget,and getting the electrician to do a fantastic job, in an extremely short period of time. Sarah always worked with me on coming in on budget, and on time, and was available at all times when I had questions.I cannot recommend General Assembly enough, and can't wait to work with her again on my next project!”
