The first job was an extensive remodel and reconfiguring of a 1956 home to update and give the place a new look and feel with custom features throughout. “I have known Martin in a professional capacity since 2001. We initially worked as colleagues at two different mid-size architectural firms over a 2 year period. Martin first came to my attention as a highly skilled Drafting Consultant who was working on some of the more complex projects in the firm. When I moved on to a different company and was asked to recruit new talent, the first person I thought of was Martin. Martin eventually came on board at the new firm and carried a significant project load from day one, allowing his new employer the luxury and financial windfall of billing out a very large and complex luxury multi-family housing project with a modicum of actual manpower. “My projected started off as I wanted one side of my deck to have a patio laid instead of the river rock. After talking with Jake I added the other side of the deck to have the river rock removed and a walk-way laid. The project from start to finish took longer then I thought but it was mother natures fault for all the rain. Jake always stayed in touch with me and kept me in the loop which I appreciated. “This review covers two projects, the first in 2014 and the second in 2015. 1)Totally new bathroom, including demolition of old walls, floor, ceiling, and removal of old fixtures at the beginning. New infrastructure (wiring, pipes, installation,) installed by the Beard Group electricians and plumbers, and new walls, ceiling, and floor by Beard Group carpenter and tile setters. Our house was built in 1925. The Beard Group has extensive experience and sensitivity to period details in working with Cleveland and Shaker Heights homes from the Arts and Crafts era. All work was of the highest quality, full attention to every small detail. The Beard Group designer guided us in the selection of wall and floor tile, contrasting tile border, color scheme, fixtures, lighting, and decorative details. The staff are highly skilled, pleasant, responsible, and attentive to detail. We enjoyed meeting them and having them in our house. They clean up thoroughly every day. There is good communication through e-mail and texts regarding schedule. The project manager arranged city permits and inspections. We got the estimate in October, and work began in March. It was well worth the wait for such a wonderful outcome. We especially love the tile installation on walls, floor, and shower niche, which are also admired by everyone who sees the new bathroom. 2)The following year, 2015, we contracted with the Beard Group for a complete demolition and remodeling of the kitchen and powder room. Once again we had an outstanding project result, which included optimized spaces for both rooms. All aspects of the design and construction work were excellent, and we have great appreciation for the quality of the design and trades work. The designers were very patient with us as we often took some time to select materials and cabinets. They understood our preference for maintaining the Craftsman period style, but infused with an updated sensibility that has received rave reviews from our friends and family. We have a great respect for all of the Beard Group staff and sincere appreciation for the quality of work performed. One friend, highly experienced with historic preservation, described the new kitchen as a "triumph of design and beauty."”

“We received proposals from three contractors that were recommended by the architect. All were very good. We decided to hire LHI after negotiations and interacting with several of his subcontractors. We also met with his cabinet maker and the site foreman. The entire package was the best. We were not disappointed. The time line was extremely on tract for the 12 week project. We were informed of what to expect for every day and never had a day without some work being done and some progress made. We made some modifications to the deck and that turned out better than expected. We added another deck modification which was completed during this project by the same crew. The level of workmanship was outstanding by all involved. They isolated the work area with plastic and covered the floors in all areas they frequented, including the finished basement where much of the plumbing, electrical and construction occurred. They kept the garage storage area organized and clean. They cleaned up the work area at the end of every day minimizing the disfunction of having a kitchen out of operation. The worked very well with my dogs, two energetic Irish Setters. The entire project was well organized from start to finish. We have been very satisfied with the whole project. They have been most receptive to followup as needed.”
