“My wife and I started our journey in building a new cottage about 10 years ago. After several failed attempts at finding a trustworthy builder we met Matt McCague at the cottage show almost 4 years ago. We did our due diligence and interviewed his past customers, visited past and current projects. We courted Matt for over 2 years before committing to have him build our dream cottage. He never objected to our millions of questions and was always willing to review or meet with us to discuss our plans. We have been so pleased with the progress. We're about 75% complete. Matt estimated a spring complettion date and we're on track. He has always been very up front and clear on the stages of the construction. Matt is very hands on and is always involved in the day to day process. Being the type of person that has always done their own work and renos I was skeptical I would find a builder that I could work with and one who would be tolerant with me. Our experience has been fantastic. I have never regretted my decision to hire Muskoka Custom Cottages. I believe Matt honestly cares about his customers and truly wants to make their building experience fulfilling. Matt is a problem solver. He will find a solution for every issue that may arise. “We absolutely love our Mafcohouse. Not only is the building gorgeous it is rock solid and designed to perfection. We are constantly marvelling at the thoughtful dimensions of the rooms, quality of the materials and the life-altering light. And we are not alone in our appreciation. The buzz in our neighbourhood continues even after a few years of residence. The building provokes lots of curiosity and passion to replicate. If we were doing it all again there's no doubt we would choose Mafcohouse. In fact, we're fantasizing about a bunkie to accommodate all our visitors.”

“From the design process through to the finished product we were more than pleased with their professional approach and personal interest in our goal to build our dream home. “Our experience working with Janet and Clark from Alair Homes was an absolute pleasure. My husband and I are very particular and had a very specific vision for our cottage and Janet was very receptive to our ongoing changes, keeping the trades and team on track as we went. She provided frequent updates on the entire project so we had timely insight on our renovation. She also provided photo updates when possible so we could monitor the details remotely. Most importantly, our place looks better than we could have imagined. We also came in on budget. Would highly recommend Janet and Clark on any home renovation project!”

James Hildebrandt provided sound honest advice regarding all aspects we were not familiar with on two of our major projects – a new build and a complete renovation. His advice and support throughout the planning, design and building process from concept to completion was excellent. James worked very hard with the design elements and incorporated our wish list on both projects. The level of communication and professionalism between us was exceptional which made the journey stress free for my husband and I. We knew every step of the way, timelines and where we were from a financial perspective. The job sites were always left very neat and organized at the end of their workday.
