“I am happy to share that I am currently working with Andrew Ackerman of AA Construction in Pacific Grove, CA. He and his team are building a 918sf ADU for me. The build has had some crazy weather related challenges but Andrew has been nothing but positive and solutions oriented to move quickly beyond our un-anticipated dilemmas. An open communication style was high on my priority contractor qualities and Andrew is consistently quick to communicate updates/information or respond to my inquiries or those of my architect. He is not threatened by any of my inquiries and has shown zero reluctance to double check on something before proceeding. He also comes across as totally invested in your project (quality, style, as well as progress), which I think must be a tricky attribute for any contractor who is busy and sees so many types of projects. Andrew has great employees equally hardworking and pleasant. I have not heard any cursing or unpleasant tones among them. (And I know that happens because I walk by another building site daily that does exhibit this kind of behavior.) I also appreciate that, so far, every trade Andrew has brought on board has been terrific with their expertise, work, and pleasantness. I will post some progress photos to date (September 2023) and add others when the project is complete tentatively around the end of January 2024 pending El Niño events! I encourage anyone in the Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel, Pebble Beach area to meet with Andrew and discuss your remodel or new build!”

“We hired Hare Construction to do a kitchen remodel and we could not be happier. Timing: the timing we were given as a restaurant was super important to us and seemed pretty impossible. Hare met every single deadline and went above and beyond when hit with unexpected difficulties to keep us on track so that we could be opened and operational when promised. Scope of work: we were given detailed schedules of work and installs that were all met (despite complications with equipment deliveries and specs). Follow up: we were given a binder with everything that was relevant to the work including equipment, specific upgrades, vendors involved etc. Communication: It has become a joke in our company that while everyone has a construction horror story, our contractor does everything we need when we need it, without any follow up on our part. If you are looking for the typical Contractor this is not the company for you. . .if you want the a-typical Contractor that provides great communication and meets all deadlines. . .with professional friendly workers and amazing support and follow up then they are worth every penny. Two thumbs up.”

“Harlan Bradley remodeled our 1950s ranch house. This was a complete remodel, removing all inside walls, taking outside walls down to studs, a new roof and new method of roof support so we could raise ceilings to roof level. The result is beautiful and we enjoy living in it. And it was a green remodel as Harlan is certified as a green contractor. Our energy bills are now much lower than before the remodel even though we added new glass doors and skylights. Of course we had some delays but generally these were not Harlan's fault, e.g. he had to send back one large delivery of wood because it was poor quality. Everyone who saw the house under construction was impressed with the quality of his work. Harlan is good with budgets and can quickly revise estimates when plans change. There were some budget overuns but mostly these were because we picked more expensive tile, plumbing fixtures etc. than we originally budgeted for. He has an excellent eye for design and makes good suggestions as to materials. He is a good shopper and saved us money several times. He is easy to get along with and we recommend him highly.”

“We used Cate Construction for a major renovation of a 2,500 sq.ft house, including adding additional footage for a new entry area. Cate Construction did an excellent job in communicating on all aspects of the project, keeping us informed on the timing of each phase and the costs associated with all of the subcontractors. Cate has the experience to select qualified subcontractors. We were satisfied with the work of every subcontractor. The project finished on schedule and very close to being on budget. We were perplexed on how to address a complicated flooring situation and Cate Construction came up with a clever solution. There were very few lingering "punch list" items but Cate Construction has promptly fixed every one of them. Overall the renovation project was a very positive experience.”
