“We purchased a new home from Hellings and have used Hellings to finish the lower level as well as other projects. Ross, Barry and his whole team are very focused on client satisfaction. There are always issues to deal with in large projects and our experience continues to be that Hellings is focused on getting things done the right way. Since buying our home and adding to the original house, we've used Hellings to put in a whole house generator, to install estate fencing and will certainly have them provide a bid on a pool and patio project that we also have on our list. Hellings is not trying to be the low cost option, but they take pride in doing each project the right way.”

“I had the pleasure of working with Dovetail in the summer of 2012. Our choice over and above other contractors we looked into was our confidence in the workmanship and design. Going in with the idea that we wanted our kitchen to be more functional and upscale, my husband and I, knowing that we are style-challenged, wanted someone who would guide us to a design that fit the house, our personal taste, and be up-to-date and interesting without succumbing to trendiness that will look dated in 5 years. Any contractor can do a kitchen renovation that looks like the latest mock-up in Lowes or the local kitchen and bath design place. Not everyone has the style sense that Jonathon Scholl has. He worked in elements we would not have thought of and gently discouraged us from decisions that he knew we would regret later (such as we originally didn’t want to give up a cabinet for waste bucket but are now so glad we did). We worked collaboratively and were able to reuse about 80% of our existing cabinets by painting them and getting new doors made. This kept the cost down and appealed to our sense of responsible reuse. So what do our friends and family comment on the most? The gorgeous, furniture-grade island is a solid and functional centerpiece – all Jon’s design and workmanship; the tile backsplash - in particular, the area behind the cooktop – Jon’s selections (my initial selections would have been horrific in reality!); the spice drawer below my cooktop – the envy of all the cooks in my family; the lighted cabinet windows that showcase some of my favorite hand-painted pottery. After living with this kitchen renovation for over a year now, we are still delighted at how it turned out, thoroughly enjoy entertaining in it, and couldn’t imagine this turning out as well without Dovetail.”

“I would highly recommend Jack and his team to anyone! And already have! Our neighbors recommended him to us after their bathroom reno and our other neighbors will be using him in the fall for theirs. He’s the best! We renovated 2.5 bathrooms this spring with Jack. His quote came in where we were hoping which was great. But more importantly for us was the quality of the work and ease of working with him and his team. Jack is very responsive, timely, and always follow through, which we have learned is difficult to find. Whenever I got stressed, Jack always remained calm and addressed any concerns right away. Truly Jack and his team were a pleasure to work with. I would not hesitate to use them again for any future projects! (See pics of Northern Liberties bathrooms for our reno)”

“We had a wonderful experience working with Hanson General Contacting on a kitchen renovation. This was the biggest construction project we had ever undertaken and we couldn’t be happier with our new space. Our home was built in 1879, and has great character as well as challenges. HGC gutted our old kitchen and removed an exterior wall to extend the footprint. They took care to salvage existing materials, such as the original doors that were repurposed in the project. They matched the historic details, such as crown molding and trim, and they found bricks that matched the original facade. They sourced reclaimed wood to match the existing hardwood floors and beams for the extension to match the existing beams. Hanson guided us through with the right blend of soliciting our input, and advising us based on their experience and respect for our budget. We now have an amazing space where our whole family spends so much more time together.”

“Brian is great to work with because he has great ideas and is an excellent crafts person. He keeps the client informed about the time frame for a project and does a good job co-ordinating subcontractors. He has drywalled and tiled a basement bathroom for me, completely rebuilt my front porch using mahogany decking and last fall gutted my upstairs bathroom, removed the tub, installed a marble shower, installed two custom walnut cabinets and added an attic fan and an exhaust fan. The job was not cheap, however the quality is top shelf and I have no regrets. Also he is very pleasant and his team is skilled and polite.”
