Need help picking the best drapery for this space!

The color of the walls is Sherwin Williams Rainwashed and I'm trying to decide which drapery would look best in this space. Or do you think I should just go with a cream/white, linen drapery? Please let me know what you think! Thanks!

Hi janetjtx!

You seem to have a style that's a mix between modern, traditional and a touch of glam. With that in mind, I prefer the third option of the ones you listed above. It seems to have a bit of a shimmer to it and will work well with the wall color (based on the way the color reads on the computer).

To complete the space, consider adding an area rug, pull the sectional a bit away from the walls and placing a console behind the sofa on the wall with the mirror grid. This will allow you to add some task lighting and display a few photos/accents.

I know I have a lot of different styles going on! I'm trying to change over from traditional to more of a modern style and yes I do like my glam:) I like the idea of adding a console table under the mirrored wall hangings! Thanks!

You have a very difficult room to work with here. For the curtains I would definitely choose something with pattern and a color that will "warm up the space" . I would buy longer panels that would go to atleast the top of the baseboard. I would also add a textured bamboo shade in a warm wood tone behind the curtains. By layering the window treatments you can completely hide the window when you don't want to see it without having to mess with the curtains. If you are going to keep all of the furnishings that you have in the room, I would defintely rearrange them. I would try to wall-mount the TV on the wall where the white sofa is now.You could place it on a hinged bracket which would allow you to swing it out for viewing and then push back out of the way when not in use. If cou cannot wall mount it, I still think that I would relocate it here. I would place the white sofa in front of the window (with it's lovely new blinds and curtains) which would supply a better "backdrop" for it than the white wall which it is now blending into. If you could, it would actually be a good idea to lose the white couch altogether, leave the black sofa where it is, and place a low bench or a pair of ottomans facing the black couch thus creating a conversation group while still being able to see over them when watching TV. I would define the seating group with a plush area rug with plenty of warm color that will compliment your new curtains while warming up the white floors. In fact, since the rug is probably going to be the most expensive item I would pick it out first and let it set the color palette for you.

I have to say that well made Roman Shades are not cheap, they are the higher end of the market. Secondly the thing to consider is that they are an all or nothing product, they are either open or closed. What part of the country do you live in? What direction do the windows face, and how often are those doors used? Drapery that can not be moved completely out of the way will get caught in the doors all the time, so while I hate taking out a window for any reason, removing it might make sense as it seems rather redundant. Don't do any type of venetian if this door is used a lot, and if you do, make sure you do an outside mount, allowing for the stack to go above the frame of the doors when they are open. I suggest that you look into Hunter Douglas Polysatin Shutters, they are great on french doors, and the Hunter Douglas Duette Architella Vertiglide is perfect on doors, they also come as a duo light, meaning you can put two blinds into one product - so a sheer and an opaque or semi-opaque product. Just some thoughts to consider.

I believe the first choice (flowered print) with pillows on the sofa to bring out some of the color. I agree with pulling the sofa away from the wall some and a striped area rug.

Have you thought of a nice real wood horizontal shutters? It may enhance the lovely item you have on the wall and it also will bring a cozy feeling in the room.

The room is already dark and doesn't get a lot of light, so real wood shutters would be too dark for the room. If I had better lighting, I think that would be a beautiful option!!!

Love the ikat print to bring in some pattern and color. Add some throw pillows in the pinky red tone and the blue (as mentioned by others) and you've jazzed up your space. Agree to add an area rug as well. have fun and best of luck!
