Need help with covering windows on French doors that are very close to
Comments (11)I have to say that well made Roman Shades are not cheap, they are the higher end of the market. Secondly the thing to consider is that they are an all or nothing product, they are either open or closed. What part of the country do you live in? What direction do the windows face, and how often are those doors used? Drapery that can not be moved completely out of the way will get caught in the doors all the time, so while I hate taking out a window for any reason, removing it might make sense as it seems rather redundant. Don't do any type of venetian if this door is used a lot, and if you do, make sure you do an outside mount, allowing for the stack to go above the frame of the doors when they are open. I suggest that you look into Hunter Douglas Polysatin Shutters, they are great on french doors, and the Hunter Douglas Duette Architella Vertiglide is perfect on doors, they also come as a duo light, meaning you can put two blinds into one product - so a sheer and an opaque or semi-opaque product. Just some thoughts to consider....See MorePlease help me with 2 questions on this bathroom!
Comments (13)I take it this isn't your bathroom. The glass could be handmade lead light which means bespoke by someone who makes lead light windows or it could be a transfer applied to a plain glass window. Check on ebay or online sticker/transfer stores for similar. I've never seen a piece like that in Australia so I'm thinking this might be an American antique. It's not normal to put an expensive antique piece in a bathroom and if you did it would be best in a bathroom that only has minimal use. And you would want to have a lot of good exhaust extraction to get rid of moisture. If you picked up one of those repro Indonesian mahogany pieces you would be spending a lot less money and might regard the piece as expendable. You can buy wood hardening sprays that resist moisture from the hardware store and spray the carcass (all the unstained pieces inside) with this stuff to resist moisture. You'd still need a good exhaust system however and keep the room well aired....See MoreWardrobe and bathroom together
Comments (1)The humidity in Singapore is always a concern with wardrobes and storage in general. The exhaust fan will help up to an extent. Its going to a trial and error experiment for you as there are other factors that need to be included here as well..... Eg is there a window for cross ventilation close by. Is there an air con in the bedroom concerned. Will it be switched on all the time or periodically. You might be lucky and control the humidity with a number of factors. Do share and let us know your experience so we can all learn from you. There is however a dehumidifying rod that is available in the market and used in high end homes in Singapore. It helps up to an extent as well. Its a question of best dealing with the natural humidity as well as the moistness from the shower....See MoreHelp with a 5R HDB Layout
Comments (15)Hi Miaw, ok your plan looking good. some comments. 1. would you consider a smaller foyer. some suspense at entry before the wow moment 2. island can be bigger where you can put your sink and some stools. 3. I think some walls not necessary to make it feel more space 4. that store room blocking the window, would you like to open this to bring more natural light, fresher by cross ventilation air moving from one window and out to other. 5. the common bathroom is outside at wet kitchen really? Anyway I think that open kitchen would be fabulous with some rich stone finish !...See MoreMidland Home Hardware Building Centre
