Remodeling Kitchen... PLEASE HELP!

I am remodeling my kitchen and I need some advice. I am keeping the deep green wall color. I have black appliances and recently purchased a black round small 4 chair kitchen table. I am wanting an accent rug for the table and I am also wanting to bring out a color in the kitchen. The living room is a purple color but I am not wanting purple in the kitchen. Any suggestions on an accent color and area rug colors?

I recently purchased a canvas painting that has a blue, green and mustard yellow flower but I am not sure how I feel about the painting or if it will look okay or not.

The kitchen dimensions are as follows: 25X12

    Hi Courtney! Here are a few things to consider as you tackle this kitchen renovation project:

    1. Consider flow. Even though you can't see the living room from the kitchen, if you are going to keep that purple color on the walls you should make small points of reference to that color in this adjacent space. You don't necessarily have to use the same shade of purple. In fact since your wall color is fairly dark, so maybe a lighter tint of purple would work.

    2. Speaking of purple, I see hints of it in the painting you purchased so this could be the reference point I talked about in bullet point number one. Using artwork as an inspiration for the color palette of your room is a smart strategy and will take the guesswork out of it for you. That being said, I strongly suggest that you find a piece of artwork that you absolutely LOVE if you are going to use it as a jumping off point for your color scheme.

    3. Once you nail down your color scheme, use the 60-30-10 rule. Since your wall color is green, this would represent your 60% and be the dominant color. Let's say your secondary color is Red as Corinne suggested. Then you would bring that into the space at a smaller percentage of 30%. This might mean that your area rug and floor mats are predominantly red, your window valence has red, and you place a bowl of fresh red apples on the new eat-in table. Your final 10% would be that accent color of purple (or whatever color you choose). Bring this final color in in much smaller increments (perhaps a vase of fresh lilac stems on the kitchen counter near the window). These little pops of color will add depth and dimension to your space.

    The key is finding the right color combo, so find a piece of artwork or fabric and let it be your guide. Hope this helps!
