Has anyone used removable wallpaper before?

I'm moving into a new rental and was wondering if anyone had any advice or success stories about using removable wallpaper? I'm thinking about using wallpaper from The Wall Sticker Company because I really like their designs (although I probably wouldn't go with the ones I've included). Any advice you might have would be really helpful.

Hi Lainie,
I have used removable wallpaper from The Wall Sticker Company in several of my homes and it is reasonably easy to apply - best if you have someone to help hold and smooth it out. It takes a bit of patience but the end result is sooo worth it! It will totally transform a dull space into something special :-)

In my experience it also removes easily without damaging the walls, just like they promise. I have been testing some wallpaper samples out in my daughter's room, I first put them up about 12 months ago and have moved them a few times, they peeled off and re-stuck without any trouble.

Here's an important warning though - don't attempt to clean the wallpaper or get it wet in any way as the dye will smudge.

I have done both full feature walls and lower half wall borders around the whole room, both looked spectacular! Good luck with your decorating project xx.

Yes we use it often in decorating jobs we do at Style Temple, Mt.Eliza, Vic. One of our suppliers Pony Rider have some amazing "wall dots"" which are like pieces of photographic art but we also can produce any image on any size removable wallpaper if you want to choose your own image and custom fit it. It is relatively easy to install or we can get one of our professional installers to help you. The wall must be clean and dry and ideally the paintwork in good condition. They sell Designer non-woven wallpapers which are removable & will strip off dry when it is time to redecorate. These wallpapers are perfect for all rooms including bathrooms due to the material they are made out of.
They are also very easy to hang as you place the glue on the wall so there is slippage allowing you to easily line up the wallpaper pattern. They have samples available & are very cost effective.

I opened my earlier post to edit the paint name in case you ever want to paint non-tufted, no-nap fabric. Unfortunately, my cat Linguine loves the binging and bonging sounds of the computer when he stands on the keyboard. Not helpful. It disappeared so... here is the name: Simply Spray Fabric Paint for Upholstery. (They have your charcoal gray) It did not make the fabric crunchy, stiff or weird. Nobody wants crunchy, stiff, or weird :-) Again, I would not paint the fabric on your gorgeous bed but I would change the wood color. The black edge and empty white room are the reasons it looks heavy. If you paint the black, I would suggest using an artist brush on the edge that meets the fabric even with fabric covered. House or painter's brushes are too wide for good control in that tight space. They are not as flexible as artists brushes nor as small. The Paris bed I mentioned was gray velvet and soft matte metallic gold wood. Soft, romantic, dreamy and transporting to a world of Princesses and Kings. If you keep the purple, I vote for gold or silver wood but NOT high gloss.

Thanks, lefty47. This is an older home, and just as One Plan guessed it is a soil stack from the upstairs bathroom. You are probably right that the cost of a custom solution may outweigh the benefits. Another idea I had, along the lines of the worktop bin suggested by One Plan, is a recessed spatula and long-handled utensil holder. I found out that Lee Valley sells motorized tv lift kits like the one used in the video above. It would be a matter of getting the contractor to build the box to go on the lift. I'm still a bit hung up on the idea, though it probably falls into your cost-outweighs-benefit category! I may bring this photo around with me when interviewing prospective contractors, just to see how they answer!

Don't know about ABET laminates, but grew up with laminate countertop from a different mfg. No problems. We never placed anything hot directly on them, always used hot plates. But then again, i would never place anything hot directly on a granite counter. To nice looking...why take the chance ?

I have had problems with self-adhesive coverings - They can be a pain to install, removal of air pockets and the running ink when they are wet. Another problem I have had with the little ones is that as they get older they realise they can peel (Decals) off the wall

Knowing that most good quality wallcoverings with a good paste are so simple to remove (Compared to many years ago)

Here is a paper from Cole & Son (Also looks great on a ceiling as the pattern is so random)
