Metal roof choices

We are building our dream house and have a question about the Roos. Our house will be boothbay blue hardie plank siding with a slate grey/ asphalt roof. What kind and color of metal roofing over the wrap around porch should we choose?

Hello everyone, thank you for your comments. It is my first time using Houzz forum so I'm pleasantly surprised by the responses. My furniture: I have mainly neutral tone furnitures (white B&B fat fat coffee tables, B&B Solo couch with light grey textured upholstery, Eames LCW chair in birch, an opaque glass rectangular dining table with black metal legs, Starck Lizz white dining chairs, and light brown leather bed frame, Cassina Utreche dark brown leather armchairs, etc) and I spice it up with red/colorful accessories (red Vitra elephant stool, red Vitra ball clock, orange smeg fridge, etc). Hope you don't mind me going into details on the furniture. I hope to give you all an idea of how my space looks like for better advice on the curtains. I prefer curtains to blinds because I find blinds difficult to clean (I prefer to be able to wash my curtains). I agree that grey may not be a lasting colour. My current curtains are off white/beige. I have my day curtains in organza with some designs on it and night curtains in 100% cotton. However, I realize that I do get tired of the print on the day curtains so I want to try a plain one for my new home. In additon, I want more light to come through the day curtains. For the night curtains, I'm trying to avoid cotton since I realize that it shrinks easily (even dry cleaning). My curtain maker says polyester has less shrinkage and are easier to wash and does not trap dust unlike cotton. I'm toying with the idea of the linen like fabric for a slightly different feel but I've not seen this in actual curtains before and I'm worried it may not turn out well. For organza, I know it will be a safe choice. I'm torn between being on the safe side (but almost everyone else will have similar day curtains in our condo) or trying the linen. What do you all think? Will you go for safe off white/beige organza or slightly different off white/beige linen-like fabric? Sorry that my comments are so long.

Thanks, lefty47. This is an older home, and just as One Plan guessed it is a soil stack from the upstairs bathroom. You are probably right that the cost of a custom solution may outweigh the benefits. Another idea I had, along the lines of the worktop bin suggested by One Plan, is a recessed spatula and long-handled utensil holder. I found out that Lee Valley sells motorized tv lift kits like the one used in the video above. It would be a matter of getting the contractor to build the box to go on the lift. I'm still a bit hung up on the idea, though it probably falls into your cost-outweighs-benefit category! I may bring this photo around with me when interviewing prospective contractors, just to see how they answer!

Hi @leewinnie, it is TRUE that white countertops turn yellow, or amber overtime, and not an old wives' tale as suggested. HI Rachel, that is the sweetest question that i have come across on Houzz. You win the prize for sure. I am assuming that you want to brew a cup of black tea with milk? Recipe: 1. Boil some fresh water in a electrical kettle or in a small pot over fire. Let it come to a nice boil as you supposed to get the temp of the water to about 96%. 2. Once its boiled, pour a little of the water into your tea cup (notice i did not say mug as i believe that tea ought be enjoyed from a tea cup and saucer and not a mug. You did ask how to make the "perfect cup of tea" ha ha ). Swirl the water a little to heat your cup and pour out the water. 3. Place a tea bag of your choice into the tea cup. 4. Pour the freshly boiled water into your tea cup and let it sit for 30 secs or longer if you like your tea stronger. I leave mine for about a min. 5. Whilst waiting for the tea to brew, you could add a tea spoon of sugar to sweeten your brew if you require. 6. Now add a little room temperature milk and stir with a teaspoon. I find sometimes that hot milk curdles a little when added to a brew of tea. 7. Remove the tea bag after your like the colour of your tea. 8. And now for the most important part, its absolutely crucial to call SUGARBAKERS and let us know that the tea is ready and we can bring our cake and sit with you to enjoy your perfect cup of tea. YES! YES!! i can already hear naysayers saying that one needs to add milk into the cup first and then the hot water and tea bag. Milk was traditionally added to tea cups by the English a long time ago (and has become part of tea drinking culture and tradition today) However the reason why tea was added first was rather debatable. Some say that milk was added first to cool the fine bone china tea cups that were imported from China in those days so as not to crack them. Most cups today are made of porcelain and they are rather strong and can withheld a high temperature. Whichever way you decide best, just dont stick a cup of water with a tea bag into the microwave. The large rapid bubbles will cause your tea bag to tear and you will be left with a some loose leaves in your cup. Unless of course you want your fortune read. Whether you brew your cup of tea... 1. cup - hot water - tea bag - milk 2.cup - milk - tea bag - hot water 3.cup - milk -hot water - tea bag ............ which ever way you brew it, make sure you use fresh water and your water is hot and give it a few seconds to brew before you call us to enjoy it with you. Just a quick tip for brewing green tea or herbal tea. Dont boil your water to a very high temperature. Herbal teas and green tea taste nicer when the water is about 70 to 80 degree celsius and you dont get the metallic taste. Unlike coffee, tea has a huge tradition and culture in many countries. Sometimes it does not hurt to learn from other tea drinkers. Lets have tea someday? Hope this helps you?
