need help with Dry Walls

Hi,

i have bought an 30 year old apartment with quite a few drywall partitions, including the wall between the bedroom and the toilet.

the contractor suggest overlaying the new tiles over the current wall tiles in the bathroom which is made using drywall partitions.

will there be a problem with tiles falling?

replacing the drywall with lightweight calcium blocks will cost me a bomb, so i am in a dilemma.

can anyone advise what i should do?

Best to start with strong base or get a second opinion by having someone come on site and see the existing conditions.

the current dry partition wall is 30 years old and its holding up fine. is this an indication of good construction?

Go with the leather that is a shade lighter that the floors. Otherwise it could get lost in blur of grey. Use accent colors in the lamp shades,wall art and throws. I also like the white table better. The metal table is more industrial. Than the style you are going for.

I would get rid of that pendant. Here's one link to industrial pendant lights http://www.houzz.com/industrial-pendants Pick a light that you like and show it to your landlord. I bet she/he will say yes to your suggestion since pendant lights can easily be changed. In fact, if there's already a really secure junction box there already i bet they may even go with a ceiling fan light combo if that's what you really want

Hi Rhonda, i also recently redid my terrace and installed a wet and dry island in my kitchen. As for your floor plan, if you're willing to consider tearing down the maid's room and moving it to the back, it will free up a lot of space for your dry kitchen/dining area. A bit unconventional, but you can also install the island in between the 2 pillars that are in the center. You can then install pot racks or wine glass holders on top of your island.
