LOST - color and look match
Comments (3)I would reupholster the rosewood furniture in natural canvas or a natural linen look . Ask the upholsterer to do the job with NO welting. That will make it look more contemporary. Then stop by West Elm, Pottery Barn, or Crate & Barrel for some brightly colored pillows. I'm thinking coral might work well with your tile, but you be the judge of what color works best with it. For now we'll assume it's coral. So I'd like to see one wall painted coral if you're so inclined. Otherwise, I'd leave the walls white. Next, let's cover some of that tile you don't like. Two choice: 1. A rug you'll take with you. Perhaps a shaggy offwhite one. 2. A rug you'll leave in your rental. This could be a large piece of carpeting, cut and bound like a rug. Measure for size before going to the carpet store. Most carpeting is 12' wide, so figure on making a rug 12 x something so that there is no waste, or you could make a couple of 6 x somethings. If you could change out the rosewood coffee table for another, I think you'd be happier with the furniture. It needs some variety. Even a couple of small tables from IKEA could work for 6 to 8 months....See MoreHow to Modernise & Update Front Aspect Design
Comments (5)I agree with Carolyn - a new coat of paint can make a world of difference. There's really not too much about the house that 'screams' a certain decade - so you're luckier than lots of us. I hate that teracotta colour on the gable ends personally, and I think that would be good to paint out. I would consider painting al the bits that are currently white a darker more serious colour (grey, taupe etc) and then paint the trim and the entry ceiling white. Also consider painting the roof - as it is a big element and teracotta tile colour doesn't always work with your colour scheme. If you want to make some more permanent changes, you could consider filling in the gable roof lines so they become box gables - and I agree with Carolyn that the entrance roof looks like it is missing a column on the left side....See MoreLiving room ideas
Comments (6)HI -- Great windows !! Full white drapes right across the whole window wall , full length ceiling to floor and wall to wall . Long low 3 or 4 seat sofa or square sectional in white (leather or fabric ?) and a swivel chair or two in black (leather or fabric ?) Have the sofa and chair-s in either material just not both the same . A long reclaimed /distressed wood dining room table -- you need the wood for a bit of warmth in the room. Modern white and chrome chairs and maybe two funky statement chairs for each end of the table.Too cold and flat looking to have total black and white. An area rug for living room area -no rug under dining room table. The area rug could be one with a salt and pepper texture or a chevron pattern or similar . Then silver accents as in side table bases with glass tops and lamps . Then some big colorful modern art....See MoreNeed Help with 3 Room BTO Reno!
Comments (6)Beside the sequence of events, you need to know the timeline as in how long for each stage. Start selecting your tiles and sanitary wares for your kitchen and toilets as it will take sometime to agree (I am assuming you have to discuss with your family) on the colors and design of the tiles, the type of taps, mixers etc. Also think about where you want to locate your switches and lightings. If you are getting refrigerator with auto ice maker, you need to decide the position as well so your contractor put a water and power point near it. All these take a lot time for decision when you have a few persons to discuss and decide. Dun get into a situation where your contractor tells you they are waiting for you to get to the next stage and put the delay to you and you will be forced to make hasty decisions. Good luck and hope you have a beautiful home when it completes....See MoreNancy Walton
