Love this idea! What kind of turf?

I live in Seattle and would like to do something like this in my side yard area. Can you tell me what you prepped the site with and what type of type of turn?Thanks!

We used diamond pro mound/home plate clay for the batters box, a 60oz turf called Natural Real 60. There are many similar turf options available that will work. It is not as important to use an expensive turf for a batting cage.

You can check out the outdoor floor tiles like the Scala (Google Snap and Go tile) which are easy to piece additionally on the ground for a new look. ;) I saw another brand here, http://list.qoo10.sg/item/OUTDOOR-TIMBER-FLOOR-TILE-SINGAPORE-SELLER-100-AUTHENTIC-BEAUTIFUL/482453309 (not sure where this brand is from but they all work the same). They even have faux grass, stones as well as timber. Definitely easy to DIY, and you can combine different surfaces together if you want (stones and wood combo for example).

I think the block of wood idea would be good and then you could play around with the wire to get something that will stand without attaching to anything. Then decorate the wire the ones in the pic are also attached to the ceiling which is probably not a good idea in a rental, drill the holes after you have decided on wire.

I'm not sure if there are any hard and fast rules but I think it needs to be probably at least half the width of the sofa to look good. In your case I would probably go for something 65-75% of the width of the sofa with maybe the height around 55-70% of the length. You could also try a large portrait style, the best thing to do is to cut out a template and hang it on the wall to see what you like as chesterfields are normally quite low. I'd also move the sofa slightly but are the ceiling lights positioned over the sofa? Hard to tell from the camera angle. I also thought of the Vintage film pics but maybe not original. My basement has a slight film theme with lighting ( actually I have a Chesterfield and cowhide too!) and I have large black and white pics of movie stars but not from film clips ie the iconic Michael Caine shot taken by David Bailey. I also love vintage travel posters, I know they've been around for quite a while now but you could find a destination that means something to you. Or look at industriał style art with a pop of colour. Or an abstract with pops of colour.

honestly, bowl sing is pretty to look at but not the most practical. water is splashing all over the place. I am in design and construction business and if I have to build for myself I will not go for bowl type. sunken in that contains water is more practical and less maintenance issue.
