What do you think of these faucets from Moen?

The single short faucet will go in every bathroom, except the powder room. In the powder room, we are doing a vessel sink and will put the taller version of the single faucet. The tub/shower combos in the main bathroom and the basement bathroom will have the full set and the stand alone tub will have the tub filler and handheld combo. We have not decided on the ensuite shower yet, but if you have any suggestions, please let me know. We don't want any jets or steam, but would like to have a rain head shower and handheld.

This design has been around for a while and its simplicity puts it to the `timeless contemporary`category. In fact, I have picked a similar style faucets for my own bathroom renovations. in 2008.

I am so glad to hear you say it is more of a classic contemporary look. The more involved we have gotten in picking all the things for our new house, the more I have realized that I was a modern, yet classic contemporary look. I think we will choose these faucets for the bathrooms in a chrome finish. Thank you for the advise.

Your second photo brings me right to the stairwell scene in Hitchcock's "Vertigo," although I realize I'm looking up, not down. It's really rather wonderful. I'm just wondering, looking to the upper left in particular, if it's been recently checked out by a structural engineer. As for paint, I'll be interested to see what others say. For me, who doesn't do a lot of white, I think I actually would stay with a white here. A muddy green might be nice as well, but you'd need to incorporate a bit of lighting -- perhaps uplighting along the beams unseen from below, with something amazing hanging from that cool, crazy peak you have. Well fellow Houzzers I hate to admit it but I've been firmly planted on Houzz for a large part of the day under the watchful eye of Foxtel tunes "Blues & roots". Most of it was okay including some Bob Dylan and Van Morrison as stand outs. My 25 year old son is home and said "How are your going with your project?" I said okay/good/great etc...(secret women's business) but my neck is getting sore. Then he said "you should listen to some music on your headphones" and he suggested tycho. Well after getting in the zone for the last hour...with this techno trance'ish background music (okay'ish music I guess, no singing just some dj spinning airy electronic sounds and stuff)... An hour or so has gone by thanks to the never ending ability of Youtube to load the next album etc while I have been mindfully saving and reading lots of Houzz including raiding photos from Luke Buckle's idea books. (Thanks Luke!) The outside world has been buzzing along without distracting me, I am lost in the world of Houzz & might be here for days unless I am rescued by someone offering food and water. Now to get to the bottom of this rant, tycho & similar types of music is apparently what young people listen to when they are on their computers working on something important that we parents will never understand. (My son is working on an app apparently) As they have headphones on we have to physically interrupt them for the likes of dinner, bin emptying, cleaning etc and this is why there is a generation gap caused by people like me not getting with the times. All I want to do is go to a spa for neck therapy!

Hi Rachel, This is quite easy to fix. Firstly I would brighten the space up with a white paint such as Nippon Violet Whispers (warm white), this will give you a good base to work from. Then I would replace your table with one that is larger. This table is too small to be useful and is making your entrance feel small. I recommend using teak and keeping this console table simple in design. On the wall I would place artwork - the bigger the better as this will make a dramatic statement. Then add some lighting (table lamp on console table) and decorative items and voila your entrance will be instantly chic! I have mocked up two options for you - one is based on blues, the other pinks, so depending on your preference you can go either way. This is the blue version with hints of tropical This is the pink version. Money plants are super easy to maintain! I've had mine for the past 7 months since moving in to our new flat and it is growing wildly around its 1.5m pole with minimal care. Cacti don't need much attention as well and make for nice decorative plants especially in toilets where you might not get much sunlight. The air plant in your second picture was actually being sold at my neighbourhood pasar malam and I was very close to getting it (apparently it only needs occasional spraying of water) but it wasn't quite my style and I went for a different plant that I'm still trying to figure out the name of. :)

Graff faucets makes a more petite version and I feel it's a nicer look than the bulky traditional style. They also have a bulkier version like the Moen too. Graff's Polished Chrome finish and mechanics are better than the Moen version too.

I don't think our plumber sells Graff fixtures in their showroom. Maybe by catalogue...I will check this weekend.
